I have had the sad pleasure of putting on about 100 roofs. Every time i did a roof i swore i would not do it again. LOL
Yesterday i went to the doctor and they are building a subdivision about 4 miles from my house close to town.
They started the shingles at the top of the house.
Why would they do that?

I started roofing when I was 12 years old and really have no idea how many roofs I've put on. But I can tell you this, no way in hell I'm roofing one from the top down unless there is some unavoidable reason I can't currently imagine. I'll roof at daylight and late evening, but I ain't running them from the top down. Lately I don't even run shingles at all if I can help it, roofing sucks.
i have only done a couple, its not rocket science doing it from the top sounds like they are taking something simple and way over complicating it , tabs are marked for a reason
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

How are the nails/staples hidden from view without tearing up the shingles when roofing downward ? It sounds like too many beers and no supervisor around watching the work to me [V]
You lift the tabs 2 rows up and place nails in the row just above the one you are laying, the nails hold the top of the one you just placed, you'll drive nails in it when you lay the row below it.
