Been shooting for around 50 yrs. now. Just how many firearms you have owned have failed, blown up ( by no fault of the ammo ) , broken or just screwed up? I've had 1. My DB9 Diamondback. Broke a trigger part. Was sent in FREE , repaired and I have put hundreds and hundreds of rds thru it since with no hiccups. How about it speak up. Factory firearms , no aftermarket parts installed that broke?

I've wore out 4 of the Phoenix Arms HP-22's over the years. Broke the slides on three of them. They repaired them free of charge every time. In fact, I just got the two of them back from the factory and now my son is trying to wear them out. Yes, they are a cheap gun, but they function great and are a blast to shoot!

2 rifles recalled over safety matters- a Remington 600 that would fire when safety was taken off, and a Winchester 100 with the firing pin problem.

2 defective handguns- a S&W Mdl 65, new out of box, in double action on one chamber the hammer would freeze instead of falling. A new Ruger Security 6 that one chamber did not line up with the bore when cocked. Both replaced.

Have had other guns that firing pin or extractor broke- after a LOT of ammo. None blown up.

same here that's what I had, that's what broke and I wish I would have known they replace the slide for free. I chucked it.

it took a few bricks of 500 to do that. at the time I thought that was a lot. should have been able to handle more than that.

    fun little gun though.

    A couple jump to mind.
Remington 1100 28ga, mighty fancy single shot as it would never pull a spent shell out on it's own (my wife's first gun & a wedding present, she was trying to use it for skeet). Traded it on on a used Browning Citori 12ga.

Weatherby Orion 12ga, started firing both barrels at the same time (that hurts, even with skeet loads) when it was less than 3 months old. Weatherby CS Dept basically said "tough chit, we don't care if it fails or is unsafe to use". Traded it in on a used Browning GTI 12ga.

Did I mention that Weatherby customer service sucks? [:(!]

Dan Wesson .22 that the cyl was out of time and shaving lead, fixed for free.

Blew up a Rem 700 but it was an ammo problem that I will not admit to being my fault [:I][:o)][8)]

Had to send a Henry in for my cousin. They sent him a new rifle. Other than that, no repairs that I couldn't handle. Busted a firing pin on a Python, they charged me for the part. Busted a transfer bar on a Super Blackhawk, they replaced it free. Still arguing with Remington over my sons 22 rifle, forget the model, but it's one of the newer ugly ones.

A whole lot of springs on Italian replica colts!

Ruger .357 that suddenly wouldn't close. The cylinder would close almost all the way and then stop 1/2 inch from fully closed. Couldn't figure it out for the life of me. Took it to a local "gunsmith." He looked it over a good bit, blasted it with compressed air, looked it over some more, and then wanted to coat it in chalk and then take a heavy rubber mallet and pound it closed. The chalk, apparently, would reveal where something was obstructing it from closing. I pointed out that nothing external was obstructing it. He thought about that for a moment, then again suggested the chalk and mallet. I then decided to send it back to Ruger.

They fixed it and mailed it back for free and it works fine now. No idea what the problem was.

I have seen a couple others bind up and not work right. I suppose in a lot of ways they are like cars: there are a lot of ways for them to break down.

2 of my own, a Taurus revolver that wasn't latching correctly repaired by Taurus never a problem since.

A Taurus LCP .380 wasn't reliably resetting the striker mechanism Taurus fixed it.

The revolver opened after each shot, it should have been picked up in factory QC.

The LCP worked fine sometimes not others, I suppose that could be missed in QC.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I cannot recall having any bad experience that was major. Had the safety lever eject from a S&W .40 once. I've had Sigs, Colts, S&W revolvers and autos, a couple of Dan Wessons, Glocks, a Kahr, Rugers revolvers and autos, a Charter Arms, and others like Pietta and Uberti, Winchesters and Remingtons, Savages, one Raven and Keltec, and probably more I can't think of. Tried to stick with quality.
Nothing I can think of that left one inoperable or caused damage or injury. The Uberti .45 would not fire at first, it was new, and the problem was only the firing pin bushing. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

This Kimber was my one and only in my 52 years. Still feeling a little gun shy. Heading out shooting Sunday, just to get back in the game so to say.

I bought a Glock 21 with the Ambi mag release.
The mag release parts and mag fell as I shoved the
first mag in. Glock gave me a new frame.

I had an M16 once that was a Full Automatic Single Shot. The problem was resolved when it was submerged in a tank of WD40 and allowed to set until the next day. After that, it worked well.

The only factory malfunction I can recall was a new Browning 2000 shotgun. Safety would stick in the on position and was near impossible to rectify without disassembly. Try this multiple times in a cold windy goose blind in Hudsons Bay[:(!]Fortunately, I had an old Model 12 as a back up. It saved the trip.

A new Remington 700 in .25-06 with an egg shaped bore. And a new 10-22 that would only double fire, sometimes. The rest of the time it was full auto. Both rifles were replaced and I was happy on both counts.
