The last time I remember Georgia Tech, TCU, and Baylor having good years at the same time was back in the early to mid 50s. TCU and GT during the 54-56 years were good ones I think. That was back when Jimmy Swink from Sacul and Rusk, Texas, played for TCU. He was a great one for sure. Now these same three teams are looking good again and I wish them all the best in their games today.

    Remembering Jimmy Swink: http://www.sfasu.edu/heritagecenter/9005.asp

Who are you rooting for today?!

    Enjoy the games!

Boise State up 31-7 over Northern Illinois. The Illinois team held Ohio State to 20 points, losing to them by seven. They also played Boston College tough in another loss at 17-14. Who knows, they might get in the game during the 2n half to make it a good contest.

ESPN at 4 PM Pacific Time
University of Central Florida at Houston

    ESPN at 7:30 PM
Arizona at Oregon. Ducks have three starting offensive linemen out, and they are picked to win by 23 points - I'd probably take AZ & 23, what about you?

WSU will Coug it for sure. But I hope they don't. Here's to hoping their new coach has turned things around.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Great but unlikely. Probably going to be a rebuilding year.

Heard on a news special about the local College ball. That the Beavers should do fairly good since a lot of the teams they play have new Coaches.

Not sure I agree with that.

But the Ducks should do good for the 1st part of their year till at least I think its mid Nov.

I hope they have a good season.

A high school 5A football game, Euless Trinity is making their first trip ever out of Texas to play Bellevue in Washington tonight. USA Today has Bellevue ranked higher than Euless. Too bad they are not on TV too, I'd like to watch this game.

Yeah, I'd watch that. Bellevue is a school filled with rich kids. I'd love to see them spanked.

I might try to catch a bit between the convention and college ball games on radio 950.

Update: Bellevue beat Euless Trinity last night in overtime 31-24. Bellevue went up 7-0, and Trinity made it 7-3, before the Wolverines scored again to make it 14-3. The Trojans came back with a TD before the half, but failed on a 2 point conversion bring the score to 14-9.

Although Bellevue led throughout most of the second half, it was obvious that the Wolverine defense was getting worn out by the time the Trojans tied it up at 24-24, with less than 5 minutes to play. Euless Trinity played a very good game considering they lost 16 starters from last years team, returning 3 on each side of the ball.

I thought at the time as I do now that the coaches made a bad call when they sent out a QB in OT who had only touched the ball a few times early on in the game, especially since the Wolverine defense was pretty much worn out, and the first play for the new QB resulted in an interception and the victory for the hometown team.

'Bama spanks Michigan by 14, shutting Michigan's offense down, holding the Wolverines to 9 or fewer.

Not as bad as most people think. They are going up against Florida, which just doesn't have the weapons like they used to. A&M is a solid, decent team with good talent. I can see a 28-21 or 24-14 type of score.

wartiger, it's my understanding that this is truly a rebuilding year for TAM, and they have lost most of their starters, too. Aside from that, don't they have a new coach? Additionally, the experts say they might beat 2, possibly, three SEC team this year; not a pretty picture for a team that will be fielding it's weakest team in ages. If TAM even plays Florida close, it will be very surprising.

I matriculated from Arkansas State University and am hoping Gus turns the program around. Although many are disapointed because they hoped that Malzahn and the Wolves would put a scare in the Ducks, I'm not ashamed of the game they played.

They traveled to Oregon from Arkansas and began a game at what was 9:30 pm our time, looked thoroughly beaten in the first half to come back and made a modest showing albeit against 2nd and 3rd string Ducks.....[:I]

Now, on to the team on the hill. What will be the final outcome in December? BCS game or one of the nothing bowls under John L?

The team that will be shocked the most by the SEC is Mizzou. They haven't seen anything like a rabid SEC fan who begins tailgating three days before kick-off.

I was shocked when I traveled to Mizzou to visit #3 and go to a game with her. There was a small contingent of tailgaters that I do believe I could have fit in my yard. I was able to drive all the way to the game (campus) just minutes before kick-off. Try that during a real SEC game. You need to begin your drive to campus the day before!!

The 'Zou ain't seen nothin' yet.
