in our little county. The first 2 involved people running stop signs, and the last one involved 3 teens speeding and probably not wearing seat belts. All 3 died at the scene. I don't think there's ever been a more deadly day on the roads of Darke Co. in the 58 years I've lived here.

Here's a link with the details.

Such a shame for all the loss of life in those accidents.[B)]

I used to drive on those roads once per week. Got to be careful pulling out from a stop sign from a side road onto a state route where the speed is high. Sort of like pulling onto an interstate if they had side roads and stop signs.

The name of the county (Darke), even sounds a little eerie![:(]

The county was named after Major General William Darke, a revolutionary war era soldier. But we still get as much daylight as the adjoining counties. [:D]

127 is a busy road most of the time. Off course, speeds also seem to be a little higher. The Piqua highway patrol post seems to concentrate on 75.

I detested driving on 49. Multiple intersecting small side roads, very flat and snow drift and ice prone in the winter, and I always get behind a slow poke doing 38mph and so much oncoming traffic it is impossible to pass.

I just found out today that the 3 kids were "hill jumping". That's become a new sport around here the last couple of years, with very predictable results all too often.

For those that haven't heard about it, they try to get airborne going over the top of hills.

Reminds me of some of the stupid crap I used to pull back in the day. [:(]
