I would suggest that it is seeing it's reflection. And attempting to fight off a supposed rival in it's territory.

it will stop eventually, had a cardinal do that to our kitchen window when i was younger, i guess it knocked its brains out because we found it dead just under the window. but it stopped.

now for folklore and legend. my great grandmother used to say that if a bird flew into your window it meant that someone you know is gonna die.

dont think there is much to that one, no one we knew past away around that time, let alone that year.

Go to your local hardware store and buy a blow up OWL... Hang it outside the window by a piece of string allowing it to move with the wind, the bird will leave. If they do not have a blow up OWL buy a solid unit and place it on a pole in front of the window, the same height as the center of the window. I have used this process several times and suggested it 8-10 times and ever time it has worked. $ 4.00 will fix this problem....Mark

At our hunt club there is a mockingbird that will sit on your truck door at the rear view mirror and lightly peck it's reflection. If you park at the Bethany Tag Board. It has been there every season for three years.

Take a bar of soap and "soap" the windows where you are having a problem. As soon as the bird cannot clearly see his reflection, problem will be over.

Had a caridinal bang repeatedly into a window until he died.

    Me and a 12 gauge re-arranged his priorities. .

Reckon it was a sign that something was gong to die.

    Most cardinals are maroons.

Get on your roof and take your fishing pole with you. Dangle a nightcrawler on a number 8 hook in front of the window, set your drag loose and when he grabs the worm free spool your line to let em' swallow the hook and worm while flying away with it's catch, then let the battle begin.

Oops forgot to tie yourself off to the peak of the roof with rope so you don't fall off. OSHA mandated.

Might want to see if someone in the family is pregnant. My grandfather used to say that if a bird is tapping on your window that it means someone is pregnant. I guess its an old cherokee wise tail but I'll be damned if he wasn't right.

My wife is actually pregant. It started today at daybreak again. I might try the owl trick or some spread shot.

Got a sparrow bouncing off my kitchen window atleast three times a day. He smacks into it pretty good.

Had a cardinal that would flog and peck a mirror on my suburban, it would light on it, look down into it and peck itself. It left little orange smears on the glass.

    I can see it now...

"How did you know your wife was pregnant?"

    "A little birdie told me."

And if that isn't bad enough.....

And where do you buy a blow up owl?

    At the owl porno shop!

I have large bay windows. Robins and black birds seem to like bashing their brains out on them. I pick up at least one dead bird a day.[}:)]

My daughter was telling me about a cardinal that was attacking their patio doors every 5-10 minutes, every day for 3 weeks. Then his mate started to join him and between the two of them the racket was almost constant. They tried shiny aluminum pans, owls, and spraying them with water, but that only drove them around to the front windows. Finally my SIL took his bb gun out and after about 1000 rounds the problem went away. Well actually their cat found the carcasses.[:D]

Had to have been d*mb *ss liberal birds looking for a free handout.[:D][:D][:D]
