Poison Oak?

I went out last Friday to put up Treestands for the upcoming Archery season. I woke up Saturday with a bad case of poison oak. I am treating it but it is really uncomfortable. Does anyone have a way to nuetralize it on the tree? I need to remove my treestand but the vine growing up the tree is Poison Oak. I don't want to take it down and catch it again.

Just go to work. Don't worry about getting in it. When you're done, wash yourself down REALLY WELL a couple of times with a rag or towel soaked in rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol dissolves and evaporates the oil that causes the rash. Works for poison ivy too. Rub down every part of skin that could have possibly been exposed. Once should do it but I like to soak a fresh towel and do it again just to make sure. If not, I'll get a horrible rash (from either oak or ivy). If I miss a spot and get a small rash, I'll soak the corner of a washcloth with more rubbing alcohol and rub and scratch away at the little blisters till they pop. It'll feel great until they break, then it burns. But it'll be all gone the next day.

I would spray it with a broad leaf weed killer, just don't get it on the tree leaves. Poison oak is generally a shrub, though it is variable and does grow as a vine sometimes. Poison ivy is a lot more common. Shiny leaves?

Found in the past that a machete and a pair of gloves takes good care of poison oak vines.[:D]

My wife had a very bad case a few years ago.She was covering a wild fire for the local newspaper, she actually breathed in the smoke from the poison burning. She got it all over her body. Her cure was to mix one part bleach with ten parts water and just dab it on the infected area and then just let it air dry.Worked on her anyway, good luck.

I also use bleach, but I don't dilute it, use it full strength.

Thanks for all the opinions. I think I will put some bleach in a spray bottle and douse everything before I take the treestand down. I picked up some shoulder length disposable gloves to wear. Also for future reference.... Don't pee in the woods, You might end up with poison oak on your junk.
