This could be the poster child for the American auto industry, for the moment.

that would be a classic 1956 ford. some parts are probably usable the hood looked ok and the grill too. those parts would go a long way toward restoring a more valuable half ton

I doubt any of it would fit a f-100. the f-500s parts are bigger, even though they look the same

    Thats a neat old truck.
When I was a kid I found the front end of an old model A while hunting ducks on a pond in my grandads woods. My buddy and I gathered all the loose parts scattered around and put them together. Each fall we would return during the hunting season and put back together what time and nature would take apart.
40 years have past and I no longer hunt ducks and haven`t laid eyes on my friend in years. I sometimes find myself in that part of the woods when the turkeys gobble in the spring. Each time I stop and remember back to when I was a kid duck hunting.I look around for the fenders and head lights, but they are gone. Still I look, hoping that I`ve just forgotten the exact location where the old parts were. Wanting to gather them up and put them together once again.

Thanks for the picture. You brought back an old memory.

F-500 is a big truck dude. You can sell parts in Hemmings Motor News. You might be surprized what folks will give.

Great shootin' truck west. I had a shootin' car in my back field until the wife made me get rid of it. Why? I have no idea. She never was out back anyway.

Haven't you figured women out yet? If you enjoy something, they will try to take it away from you. Thats the only reason she had you get rid of it[:D][:D][:D]

Went fishing in Ontario years ago. Took the boat about 20 mi. to an old, abandoned lodge. Out back of it was a junkpile. In the middle of the junkpile was a Rickenbacker touring car. They must have taken it there on the frozen lake. Wonder if its still there....

Thats the first vehicle I ever drove. My dad had a 6cyl. 52 ford, three on the tree. I'd drive it around the apple orchards when I was 13.

I go hunting in SD every year and on one farm is a mid 1950's Desoto with a perfect grill, hood, and glass in it.

I keep saying that one year I should bring a socket set.

I was out on some property with friend of mine, its his families land and encountered some old cars. I want to say about 6 old Ford Mustangs in what appeared to be a Mustang grave yard. They just sat there under the trees withering away. [V]

    Wish I had pics.

A lot of the bullets just bounced off of it.

The cab, doors, glass and all the parts are the same size except the fenders. Back in the "day", all trucks from 1/2 tons to 2 tons had the same cab and seats. Over 2 tons were sometimes larger.

I rebuilt a 1954 Ford and ended up with a door with a big old West coast mirror on it. I ended up with parts from about four different size trucks and a panel truck. It all fits.

Just because these old cars are not being used does not mean they are free to the taking. They belong to the land owner. You have some guns you don't use? Does that mean I could come take it? It's not being used. Same logic. Letting poeple hunt your land doesn't help yourself to what you find. Talk to the land owner first. Anything less is just plain stealing.

way i understand it is some hillbillys mark their land with former wealth to show how successfull they were. this is common up in those hollers and they should be treated with respect as icons to a time past.

btw...washing machines and appliances seem to run a close second as far as items used to mark wealth.[:p][:o)]

in the case of that truck, it was probably more like....."im sick of you not starting and you failed one too many times. sit there and rot you sob truck. honey, fetch me the shotgun....BOOM. die!"[:D]

It makes a guy wonder what kind of life those old trucks had.

Ive found old vehicles up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere.

You couldnt even get a modern truck in those places. I just always

wonder about the events that led up to the poor abandoned autos.

    Pretty cool stuff![:D]
