At 1 am I was awoken to a beep beep. Didnt recognize it, not my alarm not her alarm, coming from the other side of the house. Got up going toward the kitchen turn on the hall light see smoke. Start running to the kitchen, smells like an electrical fire, see a pot on the stove thats on. Turn fire off, throw pot out the back door.(My wife was sterilizing baby bottles and forgot about them, so it ended up as a pot of burning plastic.) Got the wife and kids(one 7 weeks and one 3years) outside with the kids bug out bags(diaper bags), but I swear they could live out of them for two or three days. Went to stay at my moms house now Im heading home to begin the clean-up.

So go check your smoke detectors now!

Thank god nobody was seriously injured. Things can be replaced. Hopefully the fumes will not be to bad. Good luck.

Know for sure you will not like the cleanup. You will now find Spiderwebs you did not know you had. I ended up repainting the Ceiling in the kitchen after mine.

Mine was my plastic lunch pail and somehow a burner got turned on the strap had fallen across that burner and caught fire..[xx(][xx(][xx(]

Your Wife was probably really worn out from kid tending and just zoned.

I'm glad the damage was limited and no one was injured.

You might say a little prayer of thanks, if you're motivated that way.

Sometimes, it seems to me, that Someone is looking out for me.

Correct on all accounts. The wife has been back to work for 3 days now, so we are still switching routines. Prayers of thanks have been said.

Glad to hear the smoke detectors did what they were supposed to do, and that is was not any worse than smoke damage.

My smoke detector is checked every time my wife tries to cook.
