Loved the way this guy explains in detail how he goes about his trade. This is a series of short videos where he takes you step by step through the process of building a wooden skiff. He also has other videos " tips from a shipwright" where other aspects of wooden boat building and repair are discussed. He never graduated high school but is brilliant and a master at his trade. I couldn't stop watching.

He is planning another project. Not sure what it will be but I'm betting on maybe a small sailboat.

He gives a thorough explanation why not. It has to do with several things. The construction technique doesn't level the bottom planks until the runners go on in a much later step. The build requires very smooth fit between the planks and the swelling of the wood when it gets wet actually makes the seal. It also provides for the eventuality of the planks drying out and opening up if left out of the water for an extended time. If he has caulk of some kind and it opens up due to drying, having a clean surface makes it easier to swell up tight and seal again when you get it wet again. He is pretty meticulous about explaining the why of each step/process through the build.
