They look like they would be great for ponds and small rivers. I'd avoid saltwater shark fishing from one though. [:D]

They are nice and thats a great deal.

I see you are in NC. I live up by Creedmore. Those would be nice for fishing in Falls or Jordan lake.

The wife and I each have a Hobie with the Mirage pedal paddle drive system. We don't fish, but you could troll with them if you wanted to do so.

If you have the slightest trouble with your back don't waste your money, they're not comfortable at all regardless of seat you purchase even though they look to be [;)].

All I know about them damn things is they hurt your back to ride in them. NEVER AGAIN. My wife is laughing. Long story but.........When we were in Key west, we rented one of these god forsaken back busters. We paddled eight miles out to the ocean, where I proceeded to bail on her and walk back to the condo[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)] I almost killed her with the paddle before I bailed[:D][:D][:D][:D] Those damn things ought to be outlawed.[;)]

Other then that, I see a lot of guys fishing in them at the shore and they love em. My brother in law has one and uses it to fish in the ocean and bay for stripers. Good craft he said.

I have two of the "sit in"kind but they're not the longer salt water kind like I think you're looking at. We use ours on creeks and smaller rivers, on ponds and lakes. I haven't noticed any issues with my back but they're hard to get into and out of for me. I'd never consider using them in a whitewater situation. They weren't made for that. I like to use them to get to places to fish that aren't accessible any other way. And get there quicker. Some are made by cementing the top to the bottom. I wouldn't buy that kind. Ours are the one piece kind. One is a 12' the other is 10'. The ten footer is easier to load off the car roof, much easier. I like them, they draft shallow, are quiet, and you sit right down next to the water.

My neighbor has a shorter kind of wide one, with a CLEAR BOTTOM.. That is fun to paddle around the inlet in.

Native makes a well-respected line of kayaks. They are tippier than some others (like my Hobie Pro Angler) but also faster due to their narrower beam.

Helluva deal there, riflemike. You'll never lose a dime on them.

There are many aftermarket seats for kayaks like that, from economy to deluxe. All of them have one drawback, and that is having your butt and feet on the same level. With your knees bent as they have to be for power paddling, your tailbone and lower back can get pretty painful. It's worse for some folks than others, as you might expect.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
