Probably simple but how to I take a picture out of a folder and make it a stand alone picture like the hundreds of others? I can scroll over all the others and open them or any thing else I want but this picture is in a folder all alone. Anyone? Please?

    Okay folks here goes.

If I have a desk top with no net connection can I plug a ethernet cord into my laptop to get the desk top on the net for updates?

Or will I just need to run the cord to my wifi router? If so how long can I go before it becomes a problem?

    Thanks for any help, David.

    Computer Question RE: Skype

Do you have to be always signed in to receieve calls from people; or can you be signed out and have them call?

Computer is starting to slow down. I was thinking that I probably need to install a cleaner. First, do you agree with my assessment of my computers problem? Secondly what product(s) would you recommend?

What would happen if I deleted all of the "cookies" in windows/temporary files? Are these needed?

    Computer question.

Can you use a flash/jump drive as additional memory for your computer?

Is there a limit on the size of lash memory or the number of drives that you can put in a computer?

    Computer question.

I recently bought some computer DDR3-1066 memory for my i7 980x computer build I'm doing and I noticed on the package that it says its designed for the LGA1156 platforms.

My question is does this really matter with computer memory? And will it work with my i7 980x which is a 1366 platform?

Ether to your router is best.

That is what I will do if I must but because of location I will be dragging the cord through the hall and 3 rooms. If I could get under the house I would just do that.

Since the desk top is my classified system it only goes online for super secret work, like updating odd things. [:)]

Yes. You can buy a crossover Cat5 cable to connect it to your laptop. You cannot use a standard Ethernet cable. Your laptop must be configured to allow other computers to connect to it. Then run Internet Connection Wizard on the desktop and when prompted select the option to connect to internet through other computer

Rather than run a long cable, it's probably better to just move the desktop temporarily near the wifi router to do the updates.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Why not a $30 wireless adapter? Just plug into an open USB port.

What about a wireless usb adapter? They can be had for under $30. And can be removed to protect the "super secret work".[;)]

What is the difference in a Cat5 cable and a Ethernet cord?

Did not think of the USB "antenna" but I dont have crazy amounts of cash like $30. [:(]

If I can, I need to be able to get my updates with stuff on hand.

That was my thought, too. If Dave can't afford $30 for a wi-fi card, wait until he prices cable.

I'm sure there's somebody here who has a wifi-card sitting in a drawer someplace. Send it to Dave, willya?

In the meantime, Dave, just schlep the box down the hall and plug a USB cable into your router long enough to get updates.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
