The deserter exchange...
Regarding the deserter prisoner exchange, Obama recently spoke of three former Presidents. You may recall that a few weeks ago, President Obama spoke of three former Presidents making prisoner swaps at the end of wars that took place on their watch, "much like this swap" he said convincingly.
CNS News carried this quote,
"This is what happens at the end of wars," President Barack Obama boasted Tuesday when he was asked about swapping American Army Sgt. Deserter for five vicious Taliban terrorists. "That was true for George Washington... That was true for Abraham Lincoln and that was true for FDR. That's been true of every combat situation, that at some point, you make sure that you try to get your folks back... And that's the right thing to do."
Really?
That statement blatantly demonstrates that the most powerful man in the World and two term President of the United States lacks even a grade school level of knowledge of American History; specifically, history as it relates to three of our most famous presidents and it demonstrates again that we have essentially elected a foreigner who has no understanding of the very country that he reigns supreme over. Then again, he was educated at an Ivy league school so you can't expect too much.
What's wrong with his statements? Let's keep it simple-- EVERYTHING is wrong!!!
George Washington did not become president until six years after the Revolutionary War ended in 1783. By 1789 there were no longer any prisoners for him to exchange.
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in mid April of 1865. The Civil War ended the following month. He was still dead at that time. No deals were made to exchange prisoners after the war. All prisoners were simply freed.
FDR died of a stroke before the end of WWII. Like Lincoln , he stayed dead after the war so he couldn't do what this jerk says he did. You'll recall that Harry S. Truman made the decision to drop two nuclear bombs on Japan , ending World War II. He made no deals for prisoners. We went in and released them when necessary.
None of the Presidents that Obama noted were in office at the ends of those wars, making it impossible for them to make any sort of prisoner swaps, let alone the 5 for 1, plus unspecified cash, for a deserter and traitor by our "57 States" president.
It should be pointed out that countless deserters and traitors were shot or hung during all three of the aforementioned wars.
What amazes one even more than the ignorance of the President is that he has managed to surround himself with a staff that is just as clueless. Including the American Media!!!

Confusing his intentional misrepresentation with stupidity is a dangerous thing. He is not ignorant of the facts, he is counting on the American people's ignorance of the facts. After six years of accomplishing everything he wants through falsehoods, and misrepresentations you'd think people would stop thinking he is stupid and recognize that he has been quite skilled at doing exactly what he said he would do.
Well put and typical attitude of all socialist democrats, but also consider he has powerful allies in main stream media to do most of the dirty work for him.
Well said! He and the libtards have been counting on that for years and unfortunately they are winning.
A government panel has deemed all the detainees as safe and good to go. That is what the news said about the being released today.
All good guys, 3 from Yemen, even.
30% plus of those released are known to have re-engaged with a terror group. We don't have data on all of the remaining 70%, but it is safe to say that we do not know all that have re-engaged.
I really don't know what to do, though.
If the U.S. military refuses to charge them with something and form a military tribunal, it is wrong to simply hold them forever. Maybe the answer really is to bring them to the U.S. and try them in civilian courts, though establishing jurisdiction may be problematic.
We can't hold them forever, and we may be forced by release them.
Perhaps the current strategy of kill them first is better than what will become known as the catch and release strategy employed prior to 2009.

Obama? I haven't seen anything that indicates "smart" in him, just diabolical.
Brad Steele
For a short while after he took office he referred to himself as "Commander in Chief of the United States". Somebody must have straightened him out on that point because he abruptly stopped using that phrase. He still calls himself "Commander in Chief" when that title is incorrect, but he doesn't call himself "Commander in Chief of the United States" now.
I am still looking for those 4-5 extra states we have.
He's speaking in the future tense; counting the State of Lincoln (consisting of Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon & Northern Idaho), Northern California (split off from the Southern portion), and existing territories achieving statehood: Puerto Rico, Guam, and upgrading Washington DC to statehood. And this doesn't take into consideration State of Emergency, State of Terror, and State of Confusion.
I consider him quite smart, but in the wrong subjects for his present position. When he goes back to being a Community Organizer his qualifications will again match the job.
Perhaps US history was taught differently in the various international schools that Capt Kenya attended [;)]
There's a good chance you're right. I'm sure U. S. History isn't seen the same in Indonesia as in the United States. His later education in Hawaii, Los Angeles, New York City and Massachusetts wouldn't do much to correct any deficiencies.
