Heard it on the radio this morning. The woman was naked and had some kind of weapon, they didnt say what it was. Very vague story , as they didnt say if the policemen told her to drop the weapon or not before they shot her. Mentioned they said she was deranged.
Most neckid women I know carry a weapon. Don
It is redundant to use the adjectives "armed" and "irrational."

concealed?
I think the fact that they will not say what weapon she had tells a lot.
if it was a gun or knife they would have had no hesitation in saying so. [xx(]
This must have been a really extreme case! At least one would hope. What ever happened to tazing a suspect? And why does it take so long for details to come out? No witnesses?

sheriff's office said in a news release that the men were approached by an "armed, naked and irrational female."

That's funny, Jack! I mean, really funny! Have you ever tried to restrain a sweaty naked person? Piece of cake, right? If she was naked, it was probably because a substance she abused elevated her body temperature, and she was likely very sweaty. No clothes to grab, just slippery slimy flesh. I have been there and done that with an unarmed person, and it is no picnic. Throw a razor blade or a bat into the mix and all bets are off.

Thieves in Asia used to grease themselves and operate naked. It really worked.
Psychotic, recalcitrant prisoners, who know they are about to be removed from a cell they have just trashed, will get naked and rub themselves down with their own feces.
Sounds like Willie's removal from the White House. [:D][:D]
It took 4 of us that were trained and experienced in retraint. Oh- she also had hair about 1 inch long- so forget about using the hair as a grip. It might sound like a giggle to some of you, but it is nowhere near the fun you think it is.
Add a weapon capable of causing a life threatening injury to you, fun level drops radically. But frankly, I was not there, have no idea what happened in this case- but being nude does not get you a pass on getting capped if you are trying to kill me.
There's so much that can be wrong with this story.Stories about someone being killed which contain little to no detail tend to leave the reader with that feeling - and this one is pretty bad about it.
This article really doesn't contain much more information than the headline.

It appears that the "weapon" the woman had was a cross. Were the cops atheist or vampires?http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/before-fatal-shooting-near-spring-hill-men-confronted-by-naked-woman/1257679
Even worse....Mormons![:0][:D]
after all of Nunn's reasoning I concur.....shooting was the best thing to do...
Maybe. But where do you draw the line since most religious people are a little screwy to begin with.
Why not just throw a net over them all like Harry Callahan said?[:0]
...most religious people are a little screwy to begin with.wow
Police fatally shoot Univ. of S. Alabama student

University officials said the confrontation happened early Saturday morning when the officer went outside a police station to investigate a banging noise at a window.
Once outside, the officer was confronted by a naked man acting erratically.
Authorities said the man repeatedly charged the officer, who pulled his gun and retreated several times in an attempt to defuse the situation. When the man made a final charge, the officer shot him once in the chest.
The student has been identified as 18-year-old Gilbert Thomas Collar of Wetumpka.
Local prosecutors are investigating the shooting. The officer who fired the shot has been placed on paid administrative leave.
If the same situation happened with two civilians the question would be, would a "reasonable" person be sufficiently in fear of their life to warrant killing the victim? The answer is clearly no anywhere on this side of the thin blue line.
I don't really follow you here. I have a concealed carry permit. I got it to defend myself. If I'm walking down the street and an armed person (and if the person has a stick or club or cross or anything else that can be used as a weapon he is armed) runs at me in a threatening manner and if I back up and tell him to stop and he keeps coming and if I back up and he keeps coming--then I am going to have no problem at all shooting him. I also would feel very good about my chances if I had to go to court about it.
Cops are people. People have a right to defend themselves. This is a sad case--one wishes that the attacker could have gotten the mental health care / addiciton care / exorcism that he needed--but when a person attacks another person or tries to, people tend to get shot.
