Was watching an episode of that old show Sat. morning while working in my shop at home & was trying to figure out what calliber his Mares leg was. The bullets on his balt are quite large.The barrel & magazine are cut realy short and in the episode I was watching he was able to get off 5 shots without reloading & still held the rast of the bad guys back just by pointing the gun at them. Looked to me it should have been long empty.

The shells in the gunbelt were .45-70 and just for looks. The gun fired the movie style blanks in .44-40.

I thought they looked like 45-70's in the belt. When he fired it, the ones ejected from what I could see looked like pistol cal. cases.

Whether a Winchester of a Colt, in those days the government allowed 50 and 100 round magazines to be used on either.
