How come the bottoms have those inverse nipples on them? Does it serve a purpose, or are they for show? Make the bottle look bigger than it actually is? WHAT WHAT WHAT???[?][?][?][?]

It's to make the bottle stronger ---
Always used in champagne because it's under
pressure ----
Some say the deeper the punt the better the
champagne ---

Four main reasons for them.
1. They allow sediment to settle in the very bottom of the bottle and keeps it from being poured into a glass.
2. Easier to hold the bottle, so they say.
3. They made the bottle stronger.
4. They make the bottle more stable than a flat bottom design.
