Looks like he licks windows, and clear is his favorite color, but steak is steak.[:D]

Nope. We don't shoot deer under feeders in MN. Or is that your stand?

I would shoot him right in the head to avoid damaging any of that fine neck meat that I turn into ground deer jerky. The steaks would be in the freezer, a leg bone or two given to the dog and the fat trimmings fed to the chickens. By the time I would get done with his carcass the buzzards are going to go hungry.

    +1

Feeders do nothing but help spread disease, cause inbreeding and brings the deer to people to lazy to hunt

yes if i was hunting solely for meat.......yes if it was end of season and i wanted to cull an inferior genetics buck from the herd and i had a place for the meat......no if it was anytime other than very late season, meat or no meat.
there are countless reasons to shoot or not shoot. all are legitimate and should not be looked down upon by anyone other than the person holding the gun

Not at night. In the daytime, it would depend on whether I have meat in the freezer. It wouldn't be legal where I hunt, but if it were legal, and I didn't have meat in the freezer, I'd drop him.

Not legal in PA, need 3 points to a side. (unless your a JR hunter)

If I were legally allowed to, yes I would shoot that deer. Here in PA I can use my antlerless tag on a button buck but if it has antlers it needs three points on one side to be legal.

That deer has very fine genetics, just a damaged antler [;)]

Not legal in WA either; especially not legal in the dark!
But in daylight and I could see a 3rd point, BANG!

not knowing the date the pic was taken, it can be an injury to the antlet just as it was nearing full growth [in velvet] or it can be a picture taken just as it was falling off. what i base my comment on genetics problems is the absence of quality forks. a healthy well fed first racked buck should have better forks..either food supply is poor or his lineage us lacking. food fills out the body and antlers but genetics shapes the rack. this buck is not destined to be a wide 10 point tall tined buckquote:Originally posted by woodshed87

i had a similar buck in my hunting area for 4 years, i watched him grow year after year. body weight was fine, estimated wt @ 1-1/2 yrs was 135-140 field dressed by 4-1/2 yrs he field dressed 195 and going downhill. at death he sported a 21 inch spread but remained a 6 pt 3x3 all his life no brow tines.. a unique rack such a big 6 pt but still a short tined 6pt. gotta get me a new printer/scanner to post it up
