I have this S&W gun that was my grandfathers who passed away in 1927 about 40 years before I was born. My dad gave it to me before he passed. It is a .32 Long CTG with several dates on it with the last date being 1906. My dad never carried it, so from the wear my grandfather must have carried it daily and shot it almost daily as my understanding he was in law enforcement. This must have been his main gun, and was proud of it judging from all the wear. Anything you can tell me about it would be appreciated. The grips appear to not have any chips or cracks in them, but the rest of the gun is worn plenty. I am sure the value due to condition isn't much, but worth more to me in sentimental value. Thanks for any information. What edition, kind of grips etc. is this old gun?

    I have a similar S&W in .38 Special.
It was appraised at $650 3 years ago, but I don't know much else.
The grips are mother-of-pearl, and look like yours.
I was told, in my case, that it was likely that a retiring officer would have his revolver nickle plated, w/ gold plating on the trigger/hammer by his fellow workers in that era.
Wish I could be more help.
    Here's a pic.

I believe that you have a S&W Hand Ejector Model of 1903.

Beyond that, your photos are too dark & distant to give you more information. We need to be able to read all markings on the gun, including the serial number. (No, telling us the markings won't help much.)

The grips are "mother of pearl". Value of the grips may be greater than that of the gun. Again, we can't see them close enough.

I was told that once before. Saw one in a pawn shop and the owner said the grips were worth more than the gun. Really not concerned about worth as I know it is not much just interested in any info of its kind. Thanks for the info so far.
