It was advertised with a clear title... Trans Am.. Went yesterday to do the title. Been 45 days.. Woman just called from Dept. of motor vehicles... OOPS... car has a lien on it... can't get a title. I called..Whew.... finance co. is faxing clear lien information to them. Can't believe I didn't see that on the title upon picking up the car.

lucky it wasn't still on the books & you got to buy it twice...local small town banks never seem to remove loan or lien sticky from courthouse even though it was paid off years ago ...did some serious * chewing over that

Went yesterday to pay the taxes on it. Had title put in wifes name. Woman at tax office would not let me pay the taxes. Had to see the wifes drivers license. WTH?? I had the malibu's tax bill also with me. It is in joint name. I went ballistic in the office. Woman kept telling me it was a privacy issue. I told her.. there were 25 other customers in there... if she said privacy issue one more time.. I was getting the sheriff's dept. ( at the end of the building ) to write me an incident report. She was inciteing I was doing a fraudeluent ???? Finally the old crow got me the bill.

It was the original title. No release could have been put on it . A letter is issued to the buyer when it is paid off from the lender. Letter is being faxed to SC dmv.

When I worked for Chrysler Financial and a contract was paid, we would sign off the lien and send the release to the buyer. Many times, they would neglect to take or send the title and lien release to DMV to get a new "clear" title. Over the years, the lien release would get lost so the title still showed our lien.

Well well well , I see an opportunity to play a prank on the wife. Going to the DMV tonight and have the woman play along that the car cannot be registered. This ought to get the wife riled up. [}:)][}:)] This will be great.. she will call me a *** no doubt..[:D][:D]

Oh boy, I hope you can cook!
I have a seperate checking account and our bank won't let my wife deposit into it without my signature. All because of this 'identity theft' crap.

that happens all the time, banks are dumb, send the title without taking the time to find the right officer at the bank to release the lien and sign off the title

Wife wrote out the check for the personalized tag last night. Envelope is laying on the table. She specifically ask me to go mail it today. When she comes home she will notice I didn't. That should start the conversation about the car...[:)][:)] I will tell her the title is no good [:o)][:o)] and the car can't be driven. Somehow the nephew sold the aunts car without her permission..[:o)][:o)] forged her signature along with a dirty notary who notarized it..[:o)][:o)][:o)]( my wife is a notary so this will be a hoot ).. Aunt died and the estate wants the car back. I have to go back to Oklahoma to return it. [:o)][:o)][:o)] Can't you just feel the anger coming from her..[;)]

I agree, if someone wants to put money toward my taxes, let them. I don't care if I know them or not.
