Uh, hate to tell you this, but I am in NO WAY jealous.

But then again I'm just one of those PA'ers who cling to his guns[:)]

haha, i'll take the guns you can keep the religion.
the sad thing is, walking back to the car we get herrassed by the pigs, local police force, for being on the beach after 10pm.

threatened to give us all hundred dollar tickets, seems like there is something unconstitutional about restricting access to such a public natural resource, something about freedom of movement, maybe it seems like a minor inconvenience, if they can put a curfew on the beach why not our neighborhoods, right?

its always seemed ironic to me that most police officers are so against "Socialism" and "Communism", yet they accept employment with these State created protection agencies which are functionaly the epitome of Socialist and Communist organizations.

sure, they say the defend "private property", but how can you say that with a straight face when you are employed in a service that the government forces the citizenry to accept without alternative or competition. as well as forcing citizens to pay for this (and other) services without alternative or competition, with money stolen under the threat of force from thier individual incomes.

but i digress, the grunion are awesome to see, tens of thousands of fish writhing around in froth of reproductive juices! EEEWWWWWWWWWW

Is collecting them now illegal? We used to catch buckets of them
to eat back in the late 50's.

The folks would just deep fry them. Came out crisp, and as I
remember really good. Had to be as I was too young to drink at that
    time.

smelt runs, on the great lakes back in the 60's, were dang near identical, except for the kind of fish.

Years ago in Colorado they would remove the limits on little brookies late in the fall. Guess they figured they couldn't winter over or something. Would get batches out of the beaverpond we camped by, cut through the head from the top and pull the entrails all in one motion. They would then go into a dutch oven of hot oil. Crispy
about like eating crunchy french fries.
