The Saddest Thing I Have Ever Seen

I took my Mom to the heart doctor 45 minuets from her house. On the way home we passed a cemetery that was having a funeral for a vet.

I saw the preacher and 4 members of the Navy. There was no one else there.[:(]

What would you do with the flag?

I pointed it out to my Mom and she could not believe it either.

I am just guessing he outlived everyone else.[:(]

Cant say if it happens Nationally.

Here our local VFW post claims the flag and Presidential Certificate. Which is placed in a wooden box/case with a glass top and then stored.

They only have three of them that I know of at the moment.

    That's very sad!

My wife, assuming she outlives me, will receive my flag and then it will be passed on to our daughter to be put beside our son-in-law's father's flag.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

That is sad. I hope that my wife or son gets one, and I hope to be buried with the other.
    What's next?

I hope my flag goes to my wife, or one of my daughters.

    God Bless our lost veteran.

    I hope it's a long time away!

At service not long ago for a man who was a past commander of our American Legion and Chef de Gar passe of our local 40&8, only his daughter, 2 of her friends and myself showed up. Our local honor guard was there and the Navy sent two active duty honor guard members to fold & present the flag.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Tomorrow, at Santa Fe Veteran's Cemetery, the unclaimed remains of an unnamed Corporal will be laid to rest. It will be the 4th time this has happened in nM; hope to see nM GBers at the service.

If anyone becomes aware of situations like this, I suggest contacting the Patriot Guard Riders and MIAP. They both have pretty extensive networks and contacts to gather people who will be honored to attend.

In the small town in Iowa where I was born and raised, the most popular option is to donate them to the town. They are labeled with
the vet's name and rank and flown all along main street on all appropriate holidays.
