So I noticed a night sight with a trijicon insert for the M1 is made....it is however wider than the original front sight. Has anyone tried it out and what do you think of it in terms of accuracy?

In terms of accuracy; going to a wider front blade is the exact opposite of what is considered normal. This is why National Match front sights for the M1 Rifle (and the M14) have a front blade which is more narrow. Keep in mind that the rear aperture does not have a large diameter, so going with a wider than standard front blade might fill up the entire aperture.

What are you planning to do with your M1 that requires night sights?

I don't understand why tritium sights are so popular; they offer an advantage for about two 10 minute periods a day, at dawn & dusk. Other than that they offer no advantage. And, since tritium's half life is about 10 years, you probably need to replace them after 6-8 years. I understand why so many LEO's have them ---- replacements are paid for by the taxpayers.

If you really need night capability for an M1 rifle, you might consider an EOTech on Fulton Armory's M1 rifle scope mount.

I understand the wider blade should decrease accuracy, however the tritium insert is supposedly.062 which would be second gen NM sight as I understand.

I have had trijicon night sights on my carry pistol and mine are bright anytime I'm in low light or no light. ?

I guess I'm just gonna have to try them out.
