    Nice to have.

But, don't think for one second that this means that you can legally have a cased gun in your possession at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, or a bunch of other airports in the US.

I used to fly around the country alot for business.

With the advent of the TSA where you are searched aka guilty until proven innocent ...... I avoid the airlines like the plague!

Only flown ONCE since the advent of the TSA and consider it the last time.

I will not fly unless I have to.

What I cannot understand is why passengers are not screened prior to getting their ticket.

TSA should be set up outside the airport and should screen everyone that wants to get inside.

Here is another thought why is this a US Governemnt/Home land Security operation? Shouldn't this be handled by the Airport or the Airlines? If the reason is to make the process uniform I call BS. The "search" is not uniform from Airport to Airport. So why is the USGOV in charge of this operation?

As the late, great Mr. G. Carlin used to say "It's all Bull Snot folks all Bull Snot". I remember when it's was acturally fun to fly! Used to fly a lot. Now we drive.

I'm retired now and my wife and I don't have to meet anyone's schedule or leave balance. We drive until we're tired and then take pot luck and pull into a little Mom and Pop motel. We figure they can use the business more than the national chains. We also like to pull over and look at local points of interest. Biggest ball of twine, largest nonstick frying pan, like in the movie, "Michael". Lots more relaxing and more fun than getting herded like cattle through the airports. [:D]

I flew one time with pistols. About 10 years I flew from Tampa to Indy on SW. I checked their policy and followed all the rules. I walked into the airport and there was this BIG sign over the door saying "No firearms allowed". That was a little worrisome. I walked to the counter and told the lady what I had. She called security and they opened my suitcase & gun case, closed it, but a yellow tape around it saying that it had been inspected, and I was on my way. That's the way it should be.
It's too late for me, save yourself.

I haven't seen a Mom and Pop motel in a very long time. Every small motel I've seen in the past 35 or 40 years has an Indian or a camel jockey behind the desk.

Because people have a right not to be searched prior to entering the controlled area. It's bad enough people are ok with the 4th amendment being null and void after you go across their line. As far as why the airlines are not doing it is because they shouldn't have to pay for crap like this...they didn't make the law that hurts their business, now they should have to pay for it twice? How about we just get rid of TSA, and instead use the finding to hire more airmarshalls or train and equip pilots to keep their planes from being taken over.

If I am picking up my wife from the airport I shouldn't have to disarm myself as I drive up to help her with her bags...thsts dumb.
