Wallmart into AR15s

A new hunting brochure lists a bunch of long arms including three ARs
plus Blackhawk AR accessories.
A DPMS folder/flattop for $597 should sell well.
It looks like a policy change.

I figure buying a gun from them I would get about the same level of after the sale service as buying a gun at auction, probably more.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

I once heard an idiot say the guns at walmart are 2nds and 3rds. Not true.
From what I gather most the guns are Identical to all the others and some are made just for walmart, some of those have cheaper wood, maybe some plastic parts like trigger guard.
I have a stainless 10-22 made just for walmart, glad I got it as it has a cooler looking stock than other 10-22s. If the wood is lighter, it has not been a problem.
I believe that walmart sells more guns with composite stocks than wood. Somepeople only like wood stocks, I like both types of stocks.

It's strange the firearms are the one apparent thing Walmart is not consistent with from one location to the next.

None of the Walmarts near me have any firearms, and rarely have any ammo in stock beyond shotgun shells.

Of my 3 local Wallys (2 regular one Super)

The Super doesn't carry guns, but they do have ammo.

The old "regular" one has typical hunting rifles and shotguns.

The newer "regular" one has hunting stuff plus ARs... S&W 22, Sig 522, and another brand 223 - which brand they have varies, but I've seen S&W, Bushmaster, and Colt.

Sure, let's all refuse to buy guns at Walmart. The low sales figures convinces the suits at HQ that they were right all along and that Walmart shouldn't be wasting money on guns and ammo and they decide to permanently drop all gun related products. Yeah, that's a great plan. [;)]
My nearest Walmart has the AR's and some great deals on ammo. They also have great service. The department manager has even called me in the wee hours during the ammo shortage to tip me off when they got in a few boxes of scarce calibers on the night truck. I think I'll keep shopping there. [:D]

Within a given area I think the sporting goods manager at each walmart has more say in what's stocked than the store as a whole. At least that's the impression I've been given by two different sporting goods dept managers at 2 separate store. I'm sure they are affected by state and local laws and by how much leeway the over all store manager gives them. the local stores here will order nearly any long gun you want as long as it's in thier Walmart gun catalog. A friend who worked in thier main distribution center said they typically has pallets of each gun.

Walmarts out here in AZ are going to start phasing in handguns again too.

    For FIVE main reasons.

    Dick's, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Sportsman's Warehouse, Big 5.

    MONEY, they're losing it.

Define Irony, after putting small gunshops out of business for years, they now figure out that they cannot singularly make folks not want to buy guns.

Have not seen guns in Walmart in WA, but I probably wouldn't buy my guns there even if they did sell them. We have a new Cabelas about ready to open up here though.

Saw that. It's an Outpost version, whatever that means.

The Walmarts in Aberdeen, and Chehalis sell long guns. The one in Chehalis also had a couple of ARs. I bought one gun at Walmart, and I'll NEVER buy another.

I buy ammo from walmart....not their guns...I go to the local mom and pop stores because I feel like I do better with customer support (should I need it) and they have more knowledge it seems.
