Earthships

What do you guys think?

A local just got one threw the building permit process here. not to hard to do that really, engineers stamp and your done.

He's now a bitching in the local papers that the local banks won't finance him. They are asking for 60% down and guarantee note from another lender that the end product will be 100% financed in order for him to payoff the construction loan.

Personally I think he is crazy, 89k just for the lot which is now valued at 45k whhi the market the way it is. It is quite possible that the erection of the garbage pile will wipe out any and all land value once construction is done. As it would cost 15k just to scrape the thing.

Now he is applying for money included in the stimulus bill for "alternative construction" to finance his home which will have a net negative value when done.

my friend rob knew the guy who started the whole earthship thing. when he started out, he was making homes out of junk and they were very economical and most often completely off the grid. they got really pissed off about this as any corporate interest would. so, a disaster hit some other country and his earth ships worked really well. they gave kids a couple pennies for the bottles and other materials needed so they came in by the swarms. once the homes were shown to be safe and could work, he went UBER CORPORATE.

Earthship is really against itself right now. The whole idea was to make something out of nothing. But since all the red tape, it became a big business aimed at rich hippies.

Id not expect to get a loan on that thing unless he did it thru the company. If he had a brain, he would do some research on them and just build the damn thing. Get a loan for the land. The materials should be recycled out of junk.

Worst case, you would have to go see one to research it.

It?s a great idea that shouldn?t be about making money like it is now.
