they are friggen awesome. They do "Thunder over the Boardwalk" in Atlantic City every Labor day. We usually close that day, and all my Guy and I take a cooler full of drinks and head out on my boat, for a little R&R and the Airplane show. I always have extra room if anyone of you guys want to go. Oakie

When I was a little tiny kid my parents took me to see a BA show. This was back when they were flying the Phantoms, I think. We're standing around in some field, waiting for the show to start, and it's 5 mins late, 10 mins, late, 15 mins late.

KABOOOOOM! Doing a sneak pass one of them came over what felt like 10 feet over our heads. Half the crowd dropped to the ground and started screaming. That was the start of the show.

Things used to be a lot more fun.

Ah yes, I remember seeing the Phantoms flying around at the airbase back when I was a kid. Seeing those pull a hard maneuver was like watching someone try to turn a Cadillac at 100mph. That ain't contrails, its the skid marks it leaves in the air [;)]

..My family owns a farm that abuts the Kankakee IL airport. When they still had air shows we'd sit out behind the corncrib with a cooler. One of the grain bins is painted in stripes and the Angels used it as a line-up point. They'd come over us at treetop altitude upside down. The pilots' face shields were clearly visible. An A-10 came over, stood it up on its tail and flattened a circle of soybeans. Great seats!

I came down to Cocoa Fl. when I was about 9 yo. The Vietnam was going on full bore and Patrick AFB was chock full of F-4 Phantoms. At that time, you could actually fish the canals all around the base.My Uncle took my Pop and my brother and I fishing for Drum.(tasty) We got over by the base and those Phantoms were flying in and out like one every 3 min. or so.
They would just barely get off the ground and go FULL AB with Water injection and they could BLAST strait UP!!
I dunno but,I guess they were so fast,The GIANT CLOUD OF BLACK SOOTY SMOKE didn't hamper them much...
    That is something U never forget.Very cool!!![^]
