Kimber customer service.

They were great. I spoke to a gentleman named Sergio and he was not only concerned for the gun, but for my injury which was minor. They are sending me a box and info, pre paid, to ship the gun back. They are going to either fix it or replace it. They were as upset as I was as I got a call from corporate this afternoon. So far i will give Kimber customer service an A+. We will see where it goes from there. I was impressed with the whole company and the people I spoke to. They also asked for the pictures to show to the gunsmith and their parts supplier. They are not happy either. I am just glad it is not costing me anything and I still have an eye and finger. It was a good interaction with them so far[^][^][^][^][^] I felt like I was dealing with RCBS customer service whom is number 1 in my books. Oakie

Good to hear they are stepping up to the plate. Not sure if I would ever be able to fire the same firearm again without having some concerns if the thing was going to hold together. There would always be that moment of uncertainty and a flinch. I would possibly lean towards talking them into a new one. Keep us informed how it goes, let em know there are potential Kimber buyers waiting to see how customer service is. [;)][:)]

Hope it goes well for you. Personally, I'd see if a refund would be possible, and I'd buy something else. I could never trust it (or a replacement) again. just my unsolicited 2 cents worth.

sometimes a few hours to cool off is a good thing
I would think any well know gun company would take it serious .
glad they took interest and doing what is right
of course a few extra magazines and a nice case for the gun would be a nice bonus for the trouble very little cost for them but a nice bonus for your trouble [:D]

I would hate to be one of their suppliers right now!! This situation could even force Kimber back to using all forged parts,as in the past.U may be saving a lot of other Kimber owners from the same fate that befell you.
I hope it all works out to the good for U john..

Good to hear about the customer support. But I agree with others...I would literally be "gun" shy about Kimber now...

    Good luck!

    I'm so glad!

They should take this very seriously and TRY to figure out what happened so it doesn't happen again.

Glad to hear. My question is that I can't justify or figure out that part would break the way it did and when it did?? Too many what ifs?? Two hand hold? Inadvertent contact and upward pressure when cycling?? Either way doesn't matter, that's a 1st for me to see.

They will test the rest of the part for hardness or fractures. Then they can lean on the vendor or quality control in house.

I had a kimber it started to rust right after I bought it cleaned it as per factory instructions and it rust again I called them again and was told it probably was a bad bluing job but finish is not covered. Instead of going to the cost of fixing I got rid of it I never will own another.

I stand by my first statement

quote:Kimber made a fantastic gun before the KimberII, good parts great machining, they made a big name for themselves, in 05 they wanted a goal of 5,000 guns a week {they hit it}, cut the warranty from lifetime to one year , send out crap those that find it in the first year we will fix it

    this is not their first rodeo, this is not their first broken part, pre rehearsed concern to avoid bad pr , I do believe they will make good on returning it to original condition, nothing more {well maybe a free magazine}

Mine was crap. It's true I bought "Lindsay" second hand with a cracked dust cover but I didn't take a shot to the face. Who did I deal with? The dealing's up here under "project Lindsay" (I think). Did I even take the new framed Lindsay out to shoot?

Kind a worried now if she'll do the same to me. At least I put on Packmyers steel core grips and the Wilson extended slide release.

Good news,Oakie. I do believe they will make good. Denise has spoke to Sergio in the past when she ordered my Kimber holster. He was very helpful then too. He is at the Kalispell,Montana office.
    Keep us updated. [^][^][^][^]
