hit the candy isle last night

its become a yearly trek
at midnight Oct 30th just about all the Halloween candy at Walmart goes 1/2 price computer is programed to do it ( all that has a Halloween reference on the labels ) mostly the big bags of hand out candy .
any way wife and I made our run tonight $209.00 in candy alone ( or 418.00 at normal price )
we freeze some for us ( me mostly [^]) and give a lot away at work to the coworkers and also to nieces nephews .
my wife's group area at work gave her 40.00 ( each tossed in 2.00 ) to buy some so that was part of our purchase also .

by the way a lot of midnight candy shoppers every year for the same reason ..

its always amazed me how up to 11:59 they sell all they can then 1 minute later its 1/2 off
I know its business to make money and clear out the old and start for Christmas , but I think also of the kids and families who could have bought twice as much if they would have sold it that way to start with or at least a few days prior ..

I don't think I've bought 200 dollars worth of candy in my life!

[:D][:D][:D] yes all of them ( so far )
however I love chocolate , and eat more than I should heat doctor reminds me to behave ( ya what does he know ) ,, ( making up from not having it as a kid I guess ) but most will be eaten by my wife's co-workers and passed out to family ,
I use to take bags of candy to work almost every week kept in my desk everyone knew it , I never ask for donations it was just a simple way to say thank you to those who worked for me or around me ,
I retired , but my wife still works ( Mondays and Fridays 20 years now ) but takes candy in to the co-workers they tossed in 40.00 on this run but most of the time its on us .
I also toss several bags in the freezer and break them out thru out the year to get a "fix " [^][^][:0][:0]

here is a photo of our cart in the check out lane [:0][:0][:p][:p][:p]

I think I have a GIANT Hershey bar in fridge. I bought two of them around 2005. They are like 10"x6" or bigger. I opened one this year and it was like new.

I hit the local Walmart after work Monday and went straight to the isle I saw the Halloween candy on the week before.

Halloween candy cleared out and being replaced with Christmas candy.

Found a couple of bags on the normal candy isle but nothing on sale.

Asked an "associate" about it and they said the remainder had been sent to the Walmart store on the other side of town for clearance.

Didn't feel like driving the 8 miles to the other one.

Good thing, because we had maybe 30 kids, now we have too much leftover.

Yes trust me I know [;)][;)]( it would also be a ruger 10-22 [:D] or one of many other goodies for one of my AR builds )
but the wife is not so understanding when comparing candy even if when were giving it away to 200.00 in ammo ,, go figure [:0]

side note she does know and Ok ( well maybe [B)]) when we invite friends and family over to have a get together and back yard shooting event I guess we can call it the amount ammo I and my youngest son buy so all can have fun .

Actually you should keep it all at least for a while. If things get really bad here in the next few weeks and the SHTF it would be good to have all that candy to eat and trade.

"Didn't feel like driving the 8 miles to the other one."

That's a funny one. Guess you'd starve if you had to drive 40 miles to get to the first one?
I'm really bummed that all the Caramel Apple MilkyWays disappeared overnight. We only see them for a couple of weeks before Halloween and then not again until next year.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

My favorite at Halloween are good old fashioned POP CORN Ball's. Wally World had them about 3 weeks ago and I did buy a bag of em but they were out a week later.

No one else seems to carry them so I may have to make my own from scratch.
