It's just a little .22

I don't post here often, I never learned to type, so it's painfully slow for me. As a matter of fact, my son is typing this for me now.[:D] Laidback Dan's post about the 9 mm pistol failing to cleanly and quickly euthanize the horse got me thinking about how powerful even the .22 lr can be. I help teach a hunter's safety course here in Wisconsin. Without fail, one of our students either junior or adult, will point out that their firearm is "just a little .22."

I will quickly explain to them that all of the 1200 pound steers that we ever slaughtered on the farm fell to a single shot from "a little .22." And that if it could kill the big steers, what do they think that the "little .22" could do to them? Generally, most of the students come up with the proper answer rather quickly.

So please keep this in mind, when you're passing along that "little .22" to your kids or grandkids, to always keep safety in mind, first and foremost.

Ah Hell, don't worry about those book learned, silver spooned, "Special People"!

As long as you show that you are a true American with Common Sense, you will do well here as long as you can hold tough with a lot of Ribbin!

As for typing, I started off with one finger, and am now up to two [:D]

And yes, the .22 does kill with the proper shot placement, and probably just as much because of how they travel through the body richocheing around doing damage to multiple organs.

Excellent post. I don't think there could be too many reminders of this type.

Shuuush! We know it's more than "just a little .22". But it might be to our advantage to let the Liberals think that.

When I began teaching basic firearm use and safety to our kids (and grandkids) first lesson involved a .22 LR HP, and a full can of soda.

Does a great job of ripping the can apart. Explain that "just a .22" is a dumb thing to say.
