Sounds like a good man and someone that you would be proud to call a Son, Brother or Husband.

So, are you named as a survivor or what?

Edit to add.... That would be expensive to put in the paper.

    Swat 50,

No, I am not related, but served with him.

It's a tragic story.... and unfortunately far too common.

Did he off himself or get hit by a car?
    Suicide is NO ANSWER,it's a total cop-out.
I feel nothing but pain and sorrow for all his relatives, friends, family and comrads in arms but, to me, suicide is selfish and just wrong...

PTSD will not be on the death certificate. If you research the VA files on this poor soul, you will see an actual clinical diagnosis.

There are a myriad of psychological problems, and all the problems are collected under the heading of PTSD.

All you have to be, is an ex combat vet.

If he didn't have a combat background, PTSD would not have been used as a cause/effect. The actual clinical diagnoses that would be in the patient's record would have been referred to.

And, sad to say, he took with him any chance of allowing the survivors any life insurance benefits.

There's some truth in Fish's sentiment posted above. Best, Joe

I can tell that some of you haven't had to fight the demons of PTSD.

There's no rhyme or reason to why it affects some more than others; it just does. Having to relive the worst experiences of your life on a daily (or nightly) basis is more than some can stand. I'm not condoning taking your own life, but at least understand why it happens.
