Just bought this at Wally World for $79. It says 1500W infrared quartz heater with 4 infrared elements and heats up to 1000 square feet. Anybody have any experience with one of these? I thought $79 sound like a good price.

What a load of crap! There is no such thing as "green heat" when it plugs into the wall outlet! Watts=watts, there aren't any magical elves that make it "green"!

It is the same as a regular old heater.

I've been on green heat for over 30 years. First it was wood, then I shifted to corn for health reasons(sick of cutting wood), now I'm on wood pellets due to cost of corn. All renewable resources, all relatively clean, all totally USA made, and all available within 40 miles of home.

watts input...btu's output...don't let advertising get in the way of facts...BUT..$79 is more relistic than "amish" made one couple of years ago for $3-4OO...i bought a couple of twin quartz rod ones for the cabin that work great...give you a warm spot for bath or whatever that you can't get from central heat...best time to buy is early spring when orschelyn, tractorsupply, or atwoods puts them on sale...i paid around $40-50

All of those little heaters are 5000 BTU's. Just about enough to warm a good size bath room. You could have got the same amount of heat from Wal Mart for $19.95. Those electric heaters are one of the biggest scams ever.

I would be willing to go out on a limb saying that the most green type of HVAC system would be a ground source heat pump (GSHP).

Get one of these for about $45. Has a remote, digital thermostat and up to 8 hr timer. Same wattage and has oscillating fan to heat the whole room. I have one in the basement workshop. Does a great job.
