VA here in Charleston is GREAT

Already called me three times for different appointments, set up an eye exam, hearing test, and lab work.

The young lady who called for the latest appointment was concerned because she couldn't get me into the Goosecreek facility until near Christmas so if I would go downtown they could see me right away.

Not sure how they fixed the long wait issues I heard about in the past but they are moving and shaking now.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Charleston has a HUGE number of retired NAVY, USAF and Marine Vets and the MUSC medical system. I dont think its a fair comparison to the rest of the country's VA. I 'll have to ask Dad but I dont think he is relying on VA for treatment, pretty sure they have something else.

I am very happy with my treatment through the VA clinic here in northern lower Michigan. Mainly for annual check ups and prescription services. Only problems stem from a long drive to the city in the southern part of the state for any real hospital procedure's or tests, which includes seeing specialists.

Medical emergencies will have to go to nearby civilian hospital at 20% my expense. Or die trying to go 200 miles.

I've been to the Madison Wi. v/a hospital several time in the past 2 months, excellent, timely treatment. I couldn't ask for better.[:)]

I only recently signed up at age 70, but I've been very impressed by my local VA clinic. We have a satellite clinic here in Ogden, and a full VA hospital in Salt Lake City. I live in Ogden so I asked to use the local one. My first exam appointment is in December, and they told me it is only that far out because it requires a two-hour slot with the doctor and he only had shorter ones available before that. I'm happy.

I already have Medicare and my military TriCare for Life for insurance coverage, so I doubt I'll use the VA system for much. But I wanted to be in the system.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
