sounds like both are going up in smoke. a former hometown resident now lives down there, husband is a firefighter...this is a facebook post just now..
Fire update: I just evacuated my house. There is a fire by the middle school in pigeon forge.
I don't have the news so I have no idea what is being broadcasted but I do have a firefighter in Gatlinburg literally in the middle of the fires who is trying to keep me informed as much as he can. So I will tell you briefly what I know:
First off if you've been following my post, Damian is okay! He was trapped in a fire at park vista with no way out. They finally figured out how to get out and saved him and his crew. Let's just say he text me and told me he loved me and that there was no way out of this fire. By the grace of God and all your prayers, he got out of that fire. Thank you so much!
Gatlinburg is completely on fire. Everything. Last time I talked to him he was sitting watching as his station was about to burn. He was watching people sit outside their houses as they watched them burn down just sobbing. People are trapped in their houses and rescue very well may not be able to get to them. And that's not from a lack of trying. His words to me tonight were they have called EVERY body they know to call in and they are LOSING. He is tired. They all are sooo tired. If you are in Gatlinburg and not leaving by choice, stop. Leave. You are putting every emergency personnel lives in danger by staying. I haven't heard from Damian in a bit. Please keep them in your prayers.
We live in the city of pigeon forge and just evacuated our home. I will update again in about an hour when I can talk more and we are safe away from all the fires.
I'm going to ask again, please pray for our emergency personnel. I just had to pack up my entire family and leave Damian behind. Wives and children want them to come home safe in one piece. Please please pray. This will be in our history books.

Hey Buttwipe,
Some people are close to death and losing their homes here
https://www.facebook.com/lucianoinvestments/videos/1145531528828938/
If Aspen was burning the coverage would be nonstop
"Many evacuees went to shelters in Pigeon Forge.
"We knew we had power here and some places were losing power. We knew we had restrooms and water and a safe place to house people and give them a place to go - that's why we opened up," said Phil Campbell, the facilities manager at the LeConte Event Center in Pigeon Force. The facility took in 300 to 400 people Monday night.
He said he expects even more to show up."
Damn, it's bad down there, folks having to evacuate, losing homes. No deaths reported yet, unlikely that holds, but we can hope.
Pigeon Forge is not in good shape, either.
They got a little rain last night, more forecast for tomorrow night... which will be too late for a lot of the area.
That is terrible. I am trying to contact our friends that live in pigeon forge to made sure that they are alright. They may have to come down and stay with us sooner than planned. Chalet village is gone. I hope the ski run will be ok.
Gary, let me know if we need to make a run with the generators etc...
we were thee on vacation many years ago great looking area ,, this was before it went big time and was still just a small town and had not became the popular attraction with population businesses

I don't think he meant it the way you took it.
Prayers for all involved.
Might have to go get a car from the Floyd Garrett muscle car museum. Getting serious.
Is that the Muscle Car Museum in Sieverville? I did a project there a few years ago, and toured that museum one day I was laid over. There are some nice cars in there.
3 dead so far.
Damn!

It is. Floyd is a friend and is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. Buddy of mine has a 2001 Intimidator in there along with his 2014 Z28. I sure hope all is well there.
Hope everything is OK. Lots of people in harm's way.
Several years old.
I think it was taken in Montana or Wyoming.
That photo was from the Los Alamos fire 10 years ago.
Gatlinburg was my favorite boardwalk. Wish the best for all the folks there.
A whole lot of destruction now.
Prayers for those in the heat of it.
- but I do keep coming back hoping to see a public apology.
