Why oh why do people find it necessary to stretch their post beyond readability?
It's a rhetorical question. It's obvious it's done to draw attention to their posts. It's rarely unintentional, because if it were unintentional it would be corrected when discovered.
On the other hand, it could just be a world wide communist conspiracy.
Not exactly sure what you are saying, however, it is rhetorical in the sense that it may never happen to you. It DID happen to me though. I believe that my stance has now changed from what I did 4 years ago.
Also, isn't it odd how so many things that used to be considered "rhetorical" are now everyday life?
Rather than distract and detract from your thread more than has already been done, I decided to reply in a new thread.
That was just my way of expressing my displeasure with the unnecessary and uncalled for stretching of the viewing screen in post replies. Anybody who would do such a thing is obviously a communist.
In some cases it's done with an oversized picture. That's the least irritating because some people just can't grasp the concept of resizing pictures. In some cases it's done with a long URL. That's the next least objectionable because some people refuse to understand you can link to a link or simply use tinyurl.com.
The most irritating is when someone uses a string of x's, -'s, ='s, .'s, etc. to intentionally spread out the post. I say it's intentional because if it weren't it would be corrected when discovered.
In this case the offender is screwobama, but they are legion.
It happens to everybody at various times. Just curious, what was your stance and what did you do four years ago?

The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.

i dislike signatures that take up half the page.
I'd like know how some people make it so you can click on a word and it goes to the link. If you can tell how my posts are getting stretched, please let me know as it is really annoying to scroll sideways.
I didn't use any long strands of letters, no big photos, or long urls. Could it be because there was a long url pointing the image? The url doesn't show up, just the image, so it would seem that this is not the case.
I predict this thread will be three feet wide within an hour. [:D]
I wouldn't touch that bet!

it does stretch a long way![}:)]
But have came up with a simple solution. Don't waste the time or effort on them. Just close them out and forget it.
I checked my "what would you do" post, it seems that he is the one
that stretched it out, exactly like you said
