Here is what the book says about the Second Amendment,

"This amendment states that people have the right to certain weapons, providing that they register them and they have not been in prison. The founding fathers included this amendment to prevent the United States from acting like the British who had tried to take weapons away from the colonists."

    Common Core textbook teaching.

That is NOT common core. This is the publisher's own interpretation. It has been happening for years. You should have seen the stuff that my textbooks used to say about Mormons.

I didn't see anything in those links that showed that that is how the second amendment is to be taught. My wife looked up second amendment and bill of rights in her Common Core app. The standard is actually to study the historical documents and analyze them.

That is what she likes about Common Core. It is a lot more vague and allows the teachers to adapt to what the students need. Obviously, there will be publishers that have an agenda and push that in their curriculum but to say that it is "Common Core" is incorrect.

To quote this text and say that Common Core screws up the second amendment is like looking at one auction and saying that GunBroker doesn't sell to California.

Wouldn't help. The state governments can screw things up just as much as the federal government can. Regardless, this book is not put out by the federal government OR the state government.

That is the photo I tried to copy and post here but it would not move. thanks for posting it. [:)]

Like I said in the other post, that is not common core. That is a publisher's interpretation of the standards. It would be the equivalent of me citing an auction and saying that GunBroker doesn't sell to California.

I don't care who published the damn booklet with that misguided information in it. When used to teach, it's wrong!!

I agree 100%. I was simply pointing out that it is not common core as somebody tried to say above.
