Lucent Technologies stock help

I found this common stock certificate for 16 shares of Lucent tech.
Dated sept 30 1996.

This date is important because it was the date that ATT spun off to Lucent, and I think this was an IPO of $6.00 and I think My GF got this because she had some att stocks too.

Am I rich???

What's it worth today???

    Probably not worth anything. ALU is currently trading at under $4.00, but I don't remember the details of the buyout/ merger in 2006. Lucent went through some tough times leading up to 2006 IIRC.

    It's not worth all that much. I was in the same boat. I called ALU and at the time the stock was valued at $3.60. I have a little over 80 shares and since they don't pay a dividend I was going to sell it.

    Well they charge $15 to sell and I think 5% fee per share for handling, I told them screw it I will keep it. They send me the ballot to vote my options and I vote everyone out.

    At one point in time it was worth a bunch but it is garbage now. I am just going to hold on to it because its not costing me anything.

    pwilli, I know a few folks that were heavy into LU and when the smoke cleared they were broke. What was done should have been criminal it was basically a ponzi scheme.

    The way she collected and hoarded things from the 30's thru 90's,

    I would be rich now.

    Like how about 87 Telechron kitchen clocks!! You know the ones your grandma had hanging over the stove...

    Hang on to that paper certificate. When SHTF, it might well be used to help start a fire to keep you warm! BT
