I can't tell the difference between black and white crappie. Though I practice catch and release. I catch them and release them into lake Crisco[:p]

Plus that on the eating part! Many folks still call them white perch in east Texas, Fish.

I am serious, and I bet everyone here agrees with me, when I say, Become a professional photographer.[;)] Your pictures are awesome and some belong in a wildlife gallery. You really ought to frame some of them and sell them at craft shows. Another fine example. Oakie

That is a primo eating crappie....the lake I was fishing in has a fickle crappie population. Nothing for days on end then they just seem to go crazy. Today was the 4th day in a row of 60 plus weather so they are just starting to hit a little.

The lake is across the road from my place in central Missouri.

Thank you for the kind words....I am working towards setting up a
webpage and trying to sell some of it. I have been a camera nut most of my adult life. Now I finally have the time to really enjoy it.

its time to start hitting the shallows for the spawning places. the males will be building the nests and the females will be holding back in a little deeper water, but no more than 5-6 feet. ITS TIME!quote:Originally posted by William81

crappie and walleye great eating... a team mate of my son in college. his dad fished the Crappiethon tournament from Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee for many years. 2 guys 20 fish limit. you didn't bother weighing in unless u had a 2 pound average per fish. NO Catch and Release. from weigh in to deep fryer in mere minutes.. he had to retire from the circuit after a quadruple bypass. he broke down in tears at the thought of not being at the fish fry. the man had literally 100s of brush piles and stumps GPS located in every lake in the mid south
