Some of the controlled feed theories as being better is just BS that it being more reliable for a fast reload if your gun is upside down or a Big dangerous animal is attacking you, etc, but I do not hunt big dangerous animals. I prefer hunting things so as I remain at the top of the food chain and not a biggie if the RIFLE don't fire.
But in the short actions, like for example the Remington 700 type 223 caliber that has the filler plate in the magazine box that do not push feed worth a damn, I prefer my Ruger push feed short action.[;)]

Both of 'em are one hell of a lot better than 'Uncontrolled' feed! Like the forehead sweating, hot flash, gurgling, 20 miles to the nearest rest-stop...Uncontrolled feed. The walk on your tip-toes, stiff legged, pause for a second, whimper, grimace, tip-toe a couple more steps, pause, quietly scream (then cry), not gonna' make it...Uncontrolled feed.
