He shot his 15 bird limit in 45 minutes with 26 shots.
Had 5 on the ground at one point he hadn't picked up yet because they were coming in too fast to go out to retrieve the dead ones.
He shot the first one as he was setting up his stool in the flower rows, got one true double, and one with only one shell in his O/U because he didn't have time to load the second shell for a bird that was coming in right behind a couple others he shot at twice.
Fun "day" for him, and some more work for dad to help clean.
Don't fault him, I was happy to help.
I would love to find a nice field to hunt. It is the only hunting i miss.
Here's some incentive.
Dove breasts for lunch!
Marinated in orange juice, sea salt, soy sauce, paprika, white pepper, fresh rosemary and sage, lemon zest, and fresh garlic. Brushed lightly with olive oil.
Saddled with fresh sliced jalepe?os and swaddled with bacon. Smoked with seasoned mulberry wood.
Served with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes steeped in virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a bit of cheese, and a frosty beer!
Dang! Was it ever good! I love this time of year!!
Tons of Doves here in NY, but no season..... go figure. Im not sure if that means we can kill them whenever we want or not at all.
