Old music CD's,.................

What is the best thing to do with these?

I have probably close to 100 that I have no desire to ever listen to again. Went through a phase where I listened to a lot of grung/alternative/death metal when I was playing guitar still.

Some are major names, but a lot of those I have 'greatest hits' versions of that I will be keeping.

I can't imagine they are worth selling on Fleabay with shipping involved.

I guess the best solution would be to donate them to a thrift shop, or I could take them to my FFL that operates a small pawn shop. I think he told me a long time ago he would give me a buck apiece.

I don't even want to face my old LP's right now. Two big boxes full of them in the garage.[xx(]

Time to get rid of some stuff around here.

If'n ya got any Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Metallica, Van Halen and/or Nirvana... I can help you with those!
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life

Goodwill may give you a receipt for them. I feel you on the LPs, I have accumulated a ton of these just to get the few I want.

Might look and see if there are any used cd/dvd/book stores nearby. May be able to get a few of something you like in trade.

Out of those names, all I intend to get rid of are 3 cd's.
    Nirvana/In Utero
    Pearl Jam/VS
    Soundgarden/Superunknown

    Same genre:
    Alice in Chains/Dirt/Jar of Flies

I know you and MVP are into that Seattle type thing.[:)]
    Also have The Cult/Love

I don't give anything to Goodwill anymore.
Had a huge load for them years ago, and they wouldn't send a truck out to pick it up.

Yea,....I'm gonna break my back loading up furniture and stuff on my trailer, and haul it to them.[xx(]

My local no kill animal shelter has a thrift store, and if you can't bring it to them, they will send a truck out for it. Tax deductible also.

The LP's I will probably just donate.
They don't sell for anything unless rare, but I have a boatload of them unfortunately.

Probably more of a PIA than it's worth for 6 CD's Randy.
There might be more here you would like, but I'm not going to list 100 CD titles.

I have stuff that some folks have never heard of.
Good music, but I have lost my interest in it, since selling all my amps and guitars.

At almost 51, I find I get a headache if I listen to a lot of this for more than 15 minutes. Between playing in a band, concerts by the dozens, and firearms,....I'm amazed I still have good hearing.

How many of these names do you recognize:
LSD (Life Sex and Death) Very good stuff believe it or not.
    Bad Religion
    Bush
    Dambuilders
    Elastica*
    Everclear*
    Green Day
    Liz Phair*
    Oasis*
    Screaming Trees
    Mudhoney
    Throwing Muses*
    Veruca Salt*
    Live
    Soul Asylum
    REM
    Rush
    Megadeath
    Collective Soul
    Counting Crows
    Offspring
    Sevendust

Some of those names were a result of then current live-in females BTW, noted by *.
    Many are very interesting though.

I'm just the opposite; I finally setup my old stereo system in my room and I'm starting to listen to all of my old music again, especially vinyl.

Donating the stuff you don't want to the Salvation Army, etc., is a good plan or taking the buck a piece offer works too.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

You might do better listing all of them as a bulk sale on an auction here.

Never heard of elastica or dam builders but i have the rest on tape, vinyl and cd.

I also have tons of music, and still break it out periodically.

Sold off all my amps and guitars years ago, and haven't played in a band since the early 90's. Don't miss those days.

Marc... Not sure about the CDs...
But I have a similar situation involving LPs I've inherited from an Aunt.
Be sure to check values. You may be surprised. I was...

if it were me, i'd type up all the bands and album titles and list them as a bulk sale on ebay. this sort of thing works out well for dj's just getting going before they can afford to get into buying the dj cd kits.

if you have a real offer on the table locally for a buck apiece, i would say take that. you may do better online, but once you factor in your time to box and ship etc there wont be much profit left...

You've got a lot of good music there. I know all but three on your list. Looks like we have similar taste in music. There are people who would buy them for a few bucks. Look around for a local used music store. They will take them and give you a credit toward something you want, or will likely just buy them.
    Keep the Cult's Love album. That's a good one.[8D]

    When you finally check your vinyl, look out for;
    Captain Fantastic
Captain Copter and the twirly birds
    Venus & the Razor Blades
    Siouxsie & the Banshees
    any Ramones
Roy Rogers & the Swirling Blood Cherries
    Motels
    Berlin
    Iggy Pop
    Motorhead
    Big Audio Dynamite
    Osibisa
    Firesign Theatre
    Joan Jett
    Hendrix

Just a partial list of collectible records.

If you have Hastings in your area, they may buy some of the CD's. We have sold them many. You don't get a lot, but better than a sharp stick in the eye.

If you are talking about Capt. Fantastic by Elton John,....I know I have that, along with Goodby yellow brick road, Tumbleweed Connection,....most of the old ones.

I have Motorhead, Joan Jett, The Ramones.
Also have an old album before Joan Jett went out on her own,...some band called the Runaways I think.

I know I have a bunch of weird names also. Some band called Nantucket is one I can recall.

    Also BOC, Zeppelin,...etc.
    No Hendrix unfortunately!
