Can I mail a black powder pistol to an individual in the State of Alabama ? If so must they be over 21? Also what if this person is a convicted felon ? Better to be safe and ship to FFL ? Ideas ?
This is the gun:

as far as my understanding of the atf laws, black powder is not considered a firearm period
as noted you can order over the internet with dirreect shipping and no proof of anything but a mailing address...

This gun can be shipped straight to the customer, only Illinois, New York, and New Jersey have restrictions on the sale of BP guns. If you ordered this same pistol from Bass Pro or Cabelas they would also ship it direct to the customer, in fact the warning at www.BassPro.com reads: The sale of all blackpowder firearms is restricted in Illinois, New York, and New Jersey. Bama is not part of that list.

Hey guys! I am sorry....I had a LOT going on today and just got home (whew!)

When I was in the retail store I learned a LOT about everything we carried...but since we never carried any black powder guns I really can't help here. I know people to call. The best place I know of to get answers would be Simmons Sporting Goods (205) 426 0490 Since they carry black powder they will know the laws best. They are a helpful bunch....and sweet as can be too.

I was always under the impression that black powder fell under the same criteria as muzzle loaders and didn't count as guns, but again...I don't know about these things.

You can mail it to this fine Southern state, no crazy black powder restrictions as are found in Yankeeland.
