So is this ban still happening or were there enough faxes, letters, phone calls and Congressional pressure to stop it temporarily?

I personally would like to see it go away , our government is just chipping away at the rights we have ,
and besides it would be fun to see the speculators stuck with a lot of ammo and have to sell at pre panic prices ?
so we can get back to the real issue no 22 lr [:D]

Take note of this language on page 15. ATF is not asking for opinions on if they should ban this ammo. They are asking for opinions on how to design the ban that they have already decided to impose:
ATF recognizes that this ammunition is widely available to the public. Because it is legally permissible to possess armor piercing ammunition under current law, withdrawing the exemption will not place individuals in criminal possession of armor piercing ammunition. However, with few exceptions, manufacturers will be unable to produce such armor piercing ammunition, importers will be unable to import such ammunition, and manufacturers and importers will be prohibited from selling or distributing the ammunition.8 ATF is specifically soliciting comments on how it can best implement withdrawal of this exemption while minimizing disruption to the ammunition and firearm industry and maximizing officer safety.
There is only three weeks remaining to offer comments. Instructions on how to do so are on the last page of that PDF. Doubt it will mean anything to the ATF though. They do not want your opinion on if they should do this. All they want from the public is comments on making it a fun, gentle, warm and fuzzy, light heart'd sort of stamping out an ammo source that criminals have no interest in but lots of common citizen gun owners do.
Now then, I've no interest in an AR pistol. Dumb idea start to finish. A novelty act at best.
Which people who cooked it up should have understood the foolishness of in the face of existing law. The only way this could end was to see a ban on "armor piercing" ammo. There's much the ATF deserves blame for (gallons of blood and stacks of dead bodies). But this deal was like waving a red cape at a bull and getting pissed at the bull for charging.
What did people expect the ATF bull to do when they cooked up these AR pistols but act according to its nature?
This doesn't even affect me for now. All my .223 and 5.56 NATO ammo is FMJ over lead core. Only because it's what I found cheapest in reloadable brass when I was buying.
It's just the principle of the thing.
The firms who developed the AR pistol concept claim that they built them because the ATF had an exemption in place for the M885 ammo.
The ATF claims that the exemption was granted before any such AR pistols were in existence.
The blame game goes right back to the Congress, who came up with the AP restrictions in the first place.
So what?
What does a bullet going through a vest have to do with ANYTHING when reading the second amendment? Nothing, is the correct answer and the only answer. This ban, preordained and already done is the Obama Administrations lock step march with Alinsky into Marxism.
It will come back as another violation of the 2nd amendment right.
The criminals who use .223 ammo to penetrate body armor have litte regard for rule of law.[}:)]
Quick question; has there been any instance of M855 ammo fired from an AR-type pistol by a suspect that penetrated an LEOs vest?
Its probably scheduled to happen sometime this month.

No but if gun manufacturers produce enough pistols that shoot rifle ammunition then bingo a ban on all rifle ammunition would/could come into effect![:D]
