Favorite Handgun Cartridge

For years, the .45acp was my go to handgun cartridge, I always thought that it was a near perfect handgun round. I still like the .45acp, but have favored the .357 magnum for the last ten years or so. I like reloading the .357 and casting bullets for it. I have also grown to favor revolvers, but that is a another subject all together.[:)]
I have several .357 mag revolvers and an older pre-safety Rossi 92 in .357 mag. A .357 revolver and rifle sure make a great combo!
What say ye regarding favorite handgun cartridge???

For just shooting, I too prefer the 357 Mag. It also works well in lever action rifles for plinking.

Revolver, hands down the 357 Mag.

+1. EDC is .45
I love the penetrating ability and reliability of a bottle necked cartridge.

Hands down, my favorite handgun cartridge is the 41 magnum, followed closely by the 22 Hornet. I reload for both of them and have become really good with the hornet. If you have ever reloaded that round, you know how hard it is, because of the thin wall case. Took me a long time and some help from rocky, to figure it out. The walls and neck tend to crush and dent, if you make the littlest mistake. I also load about ten to 15 other cartridges for different handguns, but these two are my all time favorite.[:)]The 41 is a blast to reload and shoot. I use the 41 in both my revolver and Marlin 1894FG, when hunting in PA. Both rifle and handgun, take the same reload and are extremely accurate for 100 yards. That is my longest shot in the woods up there, as we have no fields. I like the fact that I can carry two guns, that take the same round. No worries about what to carry. I use the 45 acp for carry when fishing and out and about. I will soon be switching to the 380. Oakie
I can relate to the .45 "when fishing." Them fish, can be tough Basturds. [:D]

and 22LR in semi auto target pistol

These are all either 45ACP or 22lr conversion units on 1911frames
I have now switched to .44 Special in revolver.
Auto pistol has always been .45 acp.
Followed closely by the 357 magnum
My favorite, however, has the be the .44 Magnum. I still say that this is one of the most versatile rounds that there are. Powerful enough at full loads to hunt with, and gentle enough with reduced loads to enjoy at a target range. (I still use full loads at a target range, but not every body appreciatres that recoil)
I have three handguns in that caliber, surpassed only by my .45 LC's.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
