Tuesday?s funeral services for a slain southwest Montana deputy will include a procession spanning Broadwater and Gallatin counties and live streaming of the service in Belgrade and Three Forks.

Representatives from at least 71 agencies from four states and nearly 500 personnel are preparing to attend memorial services for Deputy Mason Moore, who was shot and killed during a pursuit near Three Forks on May 16.

?We are grateful for all of the love and support regarding Deputy Moore?s memorial service,? said Gallatin County Sheriff Brian Gootkin. ?The family wants to ensure that anyone interested in attending the service will be accommodated and we are working to make that happen.?

Events for Tuesday?s memorial service start in Townsend at 8:30 a.m., with a procession escorting Moore through town. Members of the public who want to view the procession are encouraged to line Broadway Street and asked to park on side streets.

The procession, which is by invitation only, will then head south on U.S. Highway 287 to Interstate 90 and eventually to Belgrade, entering the town through the airport interchange.

Moore?s service will be at the Bridge church starting at 11 a.m. Due to limited seating, the church service is reserved for family, invited friends and local responders.

The services will be live streamed for the public from the church to the Belgrade Special Events Center and Three Forks High School, as well as online.

The public is encouraged to view the service at either the Special Events Center or Three Forks High School.

Parking for the Belgrade Special Events Center will open at 9 a.m., and can be accessed from Main Street to Grogan Lane. Volunteer flaggers will be on hand to guide vehicles to the lot.

Parking for the Three Forks venue will be available at several locations in town with shuttle buses that will run to and from the school. Allow 30 to 40 minutes travel time to and from the school.

There will be significant traffic delays prior to the service as the procession moves through Belgrade from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., especially at Airway Boulevard and Frontage Road. Jackrabbit Lane will be closed between West Main Street and Cruiser Lane on Tuesday morning.

Following the funeral service, at approximately 2 p.m., Moore?s body will be escorted by approximately 300 law enforcement and fire vehicles from Belgrade on the Frontage Road to Three Forks High School, where Moore will lie in state until 5 p.m.

The public is encouraged to line Main Street in Belgrade west of Jackrabbit Lane at approximately 1:30 p.m., to pay respects as the procession moves through town. Parking will be available on the old Plum Creek property west of Jackrabbit Lane and south of Main Street.

Traffic on the Frontage Road through Manhattan to Three Forks will be delayed during the procession. Anyone who wishes to view the procession from the roadside is asked to park on the side roads and not on Frontage Road itself.

In Manhattan, the procession will pass down Main Street. Folks are asked to park on side streets in Manhattan as well, leaving Main Street clear for the procession.

The procession is expected to arrive in Three Forks at about 3 p.m. People who want to see the procession in Three Forks are encouraged to park on the south side of U.S. Highway 2 along the golf course and to be in place by approximately 2:30 p.m.

Law enforcement officers will continue maintaining a constant vigil over Moore?s body at Dahl Funeral Chapel in Bozeman until his interment in South Carolina.

Two dozen local, state and federal law enforcement agencies have been helping plan Moore?s services.

?We appreciate the public?s patience at this time,? Gootkin said. ?It?s important for us to honor Mason and his family. We realize this will be a significant event for Broadwater and Gallatin counties. We encourage the public to help us pay our respects to Mason on Tuesday.?

I know you don't want to fight the traffic, but go anyway.
Heck, if my wife wasn't scheduled to work tonight she would have headed over for the funeral.
