..I'll have one more note on the subject and then I'm done. When I was a young man, I applied to be a County Sheriff's Deputy. I passed the tests, but got to thinking. I liked what I was doing and wanted to keep doing it.
..Moreover, I started thinking about the everyday things a cop does, like dealing with drunks, idiots and guys that want to kick your *. On every single traffic stop, you don't know if someone is going to shoot you in the face.
..Nope. I didn't have the temperament or guts for the job. I would not have been able to be reliable, fair, fearless and dependable. That's what we as citizens want in our police personnel. For the umpteenth time, there are good and bad people in all lines of work. I'll leave it to the Sheriff, which is an elected job to weed out the bad ones. When you see a good or bad deed by an officer, let the head honcho know about it.

I guess it depends on what side of the fence your own.The closest thing I could compare it with is the long line of dynasty of Royal Executioners of France!

I haven't heard anymore about that cop in Connecticut just waiting to bust down doors and shooting those felony's [:D]

Clearly, the conduct and language in the interaction is unbecoming of a law enforcement officer. However, that aside, the realm that we are now moving into where history is not even being acknowledged about the road we are going down and how willing law enforcement is willing to go down that road with corrupt political leaders should be enough to alarm anyone.

    No good answer from me.

I generally stay off the "cop" threads because they seem to go south so fast.

    Me........I am "cop neutral". [:D]
Yep, same here. Most here have formed an opinion about cops or anything else, by the results of our interaction with whatever.

A month or so ago a cop on this board told me to "Go F myself". He's still posting, never was locked out, so that helps form an opinion.

When a fellow straps on a badge to lord over his fellow citizens he's saying he has the judgement, the fairness, the knowledge, the temperment, and the ability to administer the rules and ordinances in accordance with perscribed procedure and the spirit of justice.

The reason cops are lumped together is that there are some that cannot, for whatever reason, ignorance, stupidity, cowardice, criminal tendencies, live up to those standards, but they are protected by the ones that can. There are notable exceptions, Serpico for one, but he was made a pariah and was run off.

The bad apples you guys protect make you ALL look like you're cut from the same cloth. I would venture to say that ALL cops know of an event that was not right and haven't spoken up offically about it.

The military mentality by a bunch of badged civilians does in no way help things either. Take your own moniker Wartiger. Exactly who have you declared war on? American citizens? Certainly not Somalis or Russians, that's for the real military.

Really dude? As much Auburn talk I post on here, you question that? Just for clarification...it's totally in reference to Auburn University. The only "war" I wage is on the criminals who would otherwise prey on the citizens of the communities I SWORE to protect. Geez[:(!]

And that statement was really un-warranted, just sayin'[;)]

Bullschnozzle, p3. It's been my experience that good cops go after bad cops with more gusto than they do the average criminal.
