I would put a luchbox locker, like a power trax in the rear diff. Then it would at least be a 3 wheel drive. If you go with a locker and stock axle's keep your tires 33" tall or less to keep the strain off the axle. The down side is the rear end with make some noise.

Here is how to install one, it can be done in the driveway with hand tools and about 1-2 hours time.

BFG K02? I'm currently running those on my pickup and I am impressed beyond belief. I used to run the earlier incarnation and liked them a lot, but the K02s are a couple steps up, IMO. Worth a look.

Great tires also but he was asking about a more aggressive tire. Ko2's are AT's and km2's are MT's.

I have a set of the km2's on my Toyota and they are well worth the money. Going on my third year with about 18k miles and they're at about 60%. That's with 90% pavement use.As long as you remember to rotate every other oil change and run them at 26-30psi, I see no reason why you couldn't get 40+k miles out of them. I will definitely be getting another set once these wear out.

I was taught 4x4s are to get you out, not get you in. Your actually worse off with more aggressive tires, because when your suck in 4 wheel drive you have no back up. With a more aggressive tire design using it to get you there in 4 wheel drive only means you'll have a longer walk out to get help to help you out of the situation. You would be better of running slicks and owning a winch if your dumb enough to use 4 wheel drive to get you in. That what I have. Or course this is just the opinion of most intelligent people.

Toyo Open Country M/T are great but be prepared for noise and poor mileage on highway. Excellent off road.

    You want something still road-worthy?

    Nitto Mud Grappler
Yokohama Geolandar MT. I had their AT-S on my built 4-runner and never got stuck. Even to my frame in mud. Their MT has to be good.
    Continental Conti TerraPlus HD3

I bought a set of Dura tracs and regretted from the first ride. Suckiest truck tires I've ever owned. I imagine the BFGs will be a far better tire all the way around.

I am running Goodyear Wrangler Authority tires on my Willys wagon, even with open differentials it will go pretty impressive places. Not as far as my CJ2A with a locked rear and Toyo mud tires, but way better highway manners.

    Oh yeah baby!!

Best 4X4 tire i've ever used.

BF Goodrich Mud-terrain T/A KM LRC BW.

    LT255X75R17

The tire named by Jeep enthusiast,s magazine "JP" as one of the ten, best off road products ever offered.

I've had them mounted on my modified Wrangler for 1 1/2 - 2 years now. Love them!!

If I could post photos here, I'd post a photo of em' on my Jeep.

I've had a lot of 4X4's over the years (and tires.) Hands down best off road tire i've ever used. Probably best single upgrade I've made to my Wrangler, amongst many.

(And) All I can say is CAD rocks. For as aggressive the tread on these tires is, the road noise is very nominal. No whine like a lot of off road tires. Behaves very well on pavement.

HoBo....I wouldn't be talkin if I didn't drive the hell out of it!Plowed fields and 3 inches of rain is a mixture for pure mug bogs....I am thinking about Super Swampers 3 stage lugs....

I think the km's are the old design that came stock on the Jeep Rubicon. The km2's are the new design. Both will serve you very well!

    Firestone Super All Traction.
Hard to beat for Farm use, mud, snow and they won't spit chains if it gets bad enough that you need them.

Downside, little loud on the road and not a high mileage tire.

I'm posting from my phone, not a computer. PM me. Once I have an E-mail address sent to me, I can respond back with a photo.

Can't just send one. (??) Yeah, I know. That makes no sense. I've tried. It does not work.

Yep. Rubicon tires. I bought mine @ my Jeep dealership with the Rubicon mags, while there getting some service work done. (All new.) Cause some well to do dude, had to gave different tires & wheels on his new Rubicon.

I paid $1100 for 5 tires, 5 mags, mounted balanced, tire pressure sensors swapped, & road hazard.

Selling my other tires Goodyear Wrangler SRA's 275/70R17 for $120 ea. (X5) total of $600 for all five w/ 23k mi. on them, to offset price. Still have em in the garage.

    Thank Shilowar!

84Bravo1, have you had any issues with the km's checking? I heard that was one issue with the older design.

The old BFG's I bought in the '80's never held up...Coopers were a lot better...The best MUD tires I ever bought were Interco Super Swampers....but I need a road-off road tire...What was the original equipment on the new Rubicon>

BFGs are over rated in my opinion. I had the AT2s on a tundra of mine. Was a really good tire, but slipped a lot in rain and in snow, was always tripping my traction control.

Put a less aggressive tire on my 4Runner, but combined with lockers (front/rear/ and center) they went anywhere.
