moles (update)

Ok, so what are your home remedies for moles in your yard? I've tried smoke bombs to no avail. May have to set some traps. I'd sit up late with the 22 but that sounds like a lot of work.

Update: the mole eliminator trap appears to have caught one this morning. I didn't have time to fully check it out before I had to leave today, but it has been tripped in any case.

UpdateII: the mole eliminator trap is easy to set. that's a plus. I'm not sure I've actually trapped a mole with one yet, as I've noticed that any mole trapped thereby would be retained in the ground. The trapping arms don't really retain the mole very well, if it did catch one. I need to spend some time digging to see if it got one I guess.

And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

moles will use the same tunnels an they have kill traps that go over the them when they trigger it, the trap will drop the rods down to them.

You're correct, smoke bombs don't work. They don't work on gophers, either.

The best way to eliminate them and know they're gone is to see their dead little bodies.

    These work.

Chinch traps are the only ones I use. For a reason. They work.

Spray your lawn for grubs and insects. No food, no moles.

Mom has had them in her yard for years and nothing I try has worked, traps, cinch or otherwise. 22 is my last option at this point.

The ol' lady's cat averages about three a month, but he is falling behind. I am thinking about cutting his food ration in half to see if it helps.[}:)]

evil is right, castor beans will rid the yard of them, something about the roots of the plant, only bad thing is the plant, the seeds/ beans are extremly poisonous and if I remember right there is no antidote, they may even be illegal in your area to plant.

have a little tomcat that is hell on moles and mice- but moles eat grubs. Get rid of the grubs, get rid of the moles.

Moles or Voles? They are all over my back yard now. Started in my mother's yard next door a year ago. I tried several things from the garden stores, had no effect.
    I'm looking for something too.

ive heard of using whats that fruity flavored juicy fruit gum? stick a piece in their tunnel and they will eat it but cant pass it through their system so it clogs them up and kills them that way. never tried it myself but ive heard it from more then a few people.

just a thought. would electrocution work? put a charged car batter in a wagon pul it around the yard. hook wires up to a couple copper rods and stick them in the ground. i know it gets the night crawlers getting out of the ground in a hurry.

My Pop had some ARCANE looking device that had 2 rows of sharp steel spikes and 2 long stakes. You pulled up,on a spring loaded rod that raised the steel spikes and a tongue/trigger would "Set".U stuck the 2 longer rods in the ground,on either side of the tunnel, after slightly pressing it down...When the mole came by,he'd have to root the top of the tunnel back up.That would trip the trigger and the mole would be SKEWERED on the steel prongs...
    Worked great,looked EVIL!!!
