I didn't want to hi-jack the thread about the most beautiful song, but posting about Eva Cassidy, and seeing 1BigGuy also knew of her, I figured I would put a link here so others have a chance to hear her.
Here is a link to a YouTube search page. Keep in mind that many of her songs are recordings from her singing at Blues Alley in Washington DC, because she did not have a recording contract. Most of her records were remastered and issued after her death.

She died November 2, 1996 from Melanoma, and this song was recorded during her last public performance appearance in September 1996. It is Satchmo's What a Wonderful World. The audience was full of her family and friends.

If you really want to see if there are any dust storms in the room with you, listen to this song, and realize that her brother is playing the haunting violin track you hear backing her up. He was home to see his sister one last time.

This song was playing on the CD in my truck after I left my Dad at the funeral home the day he died. I still miss you, Dad. Dammit.

I have every one of her albums. They are all spectacular.
Fields of Gold is also a favorite of mine. The amazing difference that she brought to so many songs done by others is incredible. Most singers cover a song with a bit of an arrangement change, and some different phrasing. She seems to change everything, and make the song belong to her.
