Printer ink rant....

I have had this photosmart all in one for a while now and I have been buying the "extra large" black refill for as long as I have had the silly thing.

NOW....they no longer have the larger size refill. But, they want me to believe that the smaller size with the label "holds more ink" is the same thing as the cartridge that is twice the size.

I'm sick and tired of companies that pull this mess. I wonder if the fat cartridge ever really had more ink???

If most of your printing is B&W invoices, kids reports, etc. then just get an old HP LaserJet. They are workhorses. I got my mom one in '97, a LaserJet II. Paid $20 for it at a surplus sale. Took it to local shop, they cleaned it, etc. and printed a diagnostic page. It had printed over 2 million pages at that point. Still worked great. Mom will get a new toner cartridge every 18 months or so, $60 delivered, installed, and the old one taken for recycling.

For actually printing photos, there are multiple services that will do it on much better grade equipment than you or I can afford for 25 cents per print or so...

I have a laserjet here that I use all of the time now. I just use the all in one thing as a fax now. every once in a while I have to deal with one of them....and I hate it every time I do.

Kasey, one of my biggest peeves is the rip off costs of printer inks. I had a dell printer and I could hardley get 30 to 40 printsd out of a cartridge and the printer flagged the cartridge as going empty when it was only half empty for even earlier replacement. Dell messages came up wanting me to order directly from them for replacement. They will practically give you their printer to get you hooked on their ink cartridge scamming and con job. Well, I took things into my own hands and started researching all available printer and ink cartridge costs. I dumped the perfectly good Dell printer and bought a Kodak 6150 with fax too. Kodak makes claim that their inking is the cheapest in the market place and I found that I can ink a whole ream of paper on a single cartridge which cost less than half of the dell cartridge. I highly recommend this printer in all ways and it will typically save a person hundreds of dollars annually. The quality overall is much higher in the machine and printing than any I have had experience with which is many different brands over the years. Kodak 6150 is a super investment for me so far. I hope thisd helps you and eveeryone.

    The copy ink refills are a total rip-off. [V] [:(] [:(!]
