My friend is getting divorced

I guess it happens but he has been married 25 yeaars and it sucks. they are like my family.
My friend was in alaska fishing this summer. All calls back and forth seemed normal. He got a birthday card in mid August in which his wife claimed her undying love for him. He had no reason to expect anything was wrong until he reached american waters on the way home. She called him and told him not to come to the house or to try contacting her. She wanted a divorce and there would be a police officer to serve him with a protection order when he arrived at the dock. And, so it was.
He has not spoken to her directly but he discovered his wife had drained both their bank accounts plus over 90 grand he had earned this fishing season. He also found out his wife had let their minor daughter move out of the family home and in with her boyfriend as well as supplying them with marijuana and alcohol.
My friend has a large collection of Browning A-5's many are NIB sweet 16's from the 50's and he has a full set of preimier Beretta over/unders I would guess there are over 40 long guns.
I have a question and it was brought to light with the medical marijuana/4473 topic.
The dissolution process has started and each party is ordered not to sell trade or give away any property but she could easily sell or trade these guns to her drug dealer. Since she is also a habitual user of prescription pain and depression meds would she be considered an addict for purposes of firearm possesion? If so would my friends collection be in jeopardy of seizure by LE? Could this be used to convice a judge to allow hi to retrieve them from the family home?
This is really a mess for more reasons than personal possesions but she has already shown a willingness to rob him blind. SHe left him with no money after 41/2 months of 20 hour days and no way to pay his bills. I can only imagine what she will do with expensive guns she considers useless once that mo9ney is gone.

Very Sticky, is your state a community property state! Are the guns subject to seizure and sale for the money split in a divorce? The best thing he could do is get a lawyer, go to court for an order of property removal and he would be escorted to the property to remove the allowable possessions..

Tell your friend not to do anything stupid, as he is subject to lose everything.

He needs to go straight to an attorney. If what you say is all true, the judge will pop a cork.

If she has a restraining order, it would be very stupid for him to break into the house and take anything. Remind me not to use you for an attorney..[:(]

in her petition for a protection order she mentions that he has an extensive collection of firearms as her attempt to justify the order.
He has told his attorney about everything and he has filed discovery requests to show where the money went. He looked at bank staterments and can account for about 70 grand (although alot of it was cash withdrawls)
I told him to get the sherrif to go with him to the house and collect all his personal possesions but he is afraid to do anything.
Cops have already been to his mothers house (where he is staying) twice on complaints that he was near the protected residence. He never was, she is just paranoid.
Besides the guns, she has all his tools, spare parts for the fishing boat, titles for vehicles all his nicer things. She filled the bed of his truck with clothes and parked it up the street for him to get.

Divorce is usually bad for one or both of the "couple" or all in a family.

Generally the divorce works out the best for the attorneys.
