"I fealt threatened" is the standard CYA response. Similar to "I was in fear for my life" is the standard response if you shoot an intruder.

I don't want to read the story, I get too pissed off at cops shooting dogs when they carry pepper spray and can use that first. I have used pepper spray on very aggressive dogs and it stops them in their tracks. No, I am not a hater, but I think there are some police officers that are poorly trained and poorly supervised and go for their gun instead of using their brains.

During my 30 year LEO career I was bitten by three dogs. None of which I shot. I pepper-sprayed more than I can remember. The last dog that bit me was a very large German Shepherd that the owner of the house, a fugitive, released out a side door & charged me. He got me in the front upper right thigh & while there I pepper-spayed him. At first it did not seem to affect him but after about a minute he released me. There were 27 bite marks into my leg & a day later I could not even walk on it.

I have a lot of respect for the law around here, I know there are bad apples out there but you get that in any walk of life.

That be said, if they shoot one of my dogs for a BS reason, I will probably come unhinged and my next picture will involve numbers across my chest or I'll be in the ground.

When we lived at a nearby lake community quite a few years ago, my 11 year old son, wife and I were attacked by a large German Shepperd while we were on a walk. This was around 19 years ago and my wife still has the scars where its teeth pierced her leg.

We called the police and they said it wasn't a big deal, they'd tell the owner to keep it chained up, and the owners weren't even given a citation for a loose dog.

Even if you had shot that dog it would have been justified and the owners fault. Cases like the news story really piss me off.

When they start throwing the book at those cops like anyone else it might start to drop off. Shoot a chained dog and you should do jail time.

Not to mention, did the couple who called the police out stay the problem was with their dog? Morons.

I lost my fear of being bitten by dogs when I lost my right leg below the knee. I just turn my right side to any aggressive dog coming towards me. "Have a bite of this Fido."

I do the same, did it just today when my son's little yapper dog decided she wanted to snap at me. "Snap away at my carbon fiber Flex Foot, mutt."
